This happened after he became engaged to Miss Leila Morton. Mr. Ward had with him a certified copy of the marriage from the ordinary of Jasper county, and .also had a picture of Owens. Owens still denies the truth of his former mar riage, and says it is a trumped up affair. Everyone here sympathizes deeply with the young lady .and her family, but are indignant with Owens.
