The first parttgraph was written by that paper’s correspondent at Mt. Micgs, Ala. The other is from the local columns of tlie Advertiser of several days ago. The extracts are: “The work on tlie A. & M. rail road is progressing rapidly. The track layers are now at work near McLemore’s place, eight miles this Side of Mont gomery. The construction company have built, a side track on Mr. J. I>. Scott's place, and aio now camping there. This seems to indicate that Mr. Scott will get; the depot located on his place, and we hope that he will as it will he a convenient location for the citizens of Mt. Meigs. The accommoda tions on tlie Western railroad are very poor, and the citizens of Mt. Meigs, arc anxiously awaiting the time when the S., A. iVr M. will he completed, and con venient schedule effected.” , “Ten days from now the first locomo tive on the new S , A. & M. road will blow a long aud continued blast, inaugu rating the completion of that road into Ayer’s Hair Vigor Restores the original color tc fe ted and gray hair, keeps the scalp clean, and imparts that natural gloss and freshues- ,o universally admired. “A little more than two yeao* ago my hair i “Ayer's Hair Vigor Is excellent for the began turning gray and falling out. Especially is this desirable since Americas was tlie first city in Georgia to adopt the electric system. You have here a city that has done some good growing and that will do some more, if I mistake not I am satisfied that the road can now do a good business here if properly managed. It is out of the question, however, for us to occupy the same vantage ground in managing it as would a local company It is worth what we paid for it to take up and place at Macon, and the syndicate controlling the roads there want it. We are now in a position to deal with them, although our prefer ence and sympathy is naturally, under the circumstances, with Americus. Much as we would wish to favor this city, we annot allow sentiment to sway our busi ness judgment.” “What terms would you make with a questioned * the re* Ihelr. -ALSO- Shirt Waists (If the ordinary kind, AT 25c to 75c TO CLOSE OUT. SHAW, Mvh and 110 Forsyth St., Serious, ga. 1 porter. “For the amount which we paid— $35,000— we will sell to a local compa ny. That would give them our pur chase, the road and all its appurte nances, appliances and franchises, with a clear title and no outstanding bonds or other debts to hamper tho purchasers. We want to do the propor thing, by Americus. As was stated by Mr. Felder at the sale this morning the road repre sents an actual investment of $85,000. It cost that to construct and equip it. The company which erected the road was capitalized at $50,000 and $50,000 worth of bonds were issued. The stoc/t was not watered at all. The price of construction which I hav named was paid part in cash and part in bonds by the Xe*v oYrk Contract com pany, for which concern the Thomson- Houston company did the work. Tho road is one of the best constructed in tlie country. The track is laid with the best thirty-five pound T rails and tho wire used is the best cop per that could he obtained. The curved rails were made ih Johnstown and the other was obtained in New York. If the business men of Americus be lieve there is any virtue in this enter prise they now have a good opportunity to put it to the test. They can buy this road for less than half its actual cost, hut this offer as you may see can only remain open a very limited time. W« cannot in-justice to those we represent allow our capital to remain idle here. We will sell to a local company. Qur charter goes with it audit is, technically speaking, a very valuable franchise.” ‘Am I to understand, then, that th purchasers w ill not under any conditions operate the road?” queried the reporter. “No, we will not operate the road here. That must be done by local or soiuo other company if it is done at all. If some sale, on the plan I have outlined, is no: made, then I have instructions to close the trade with the Macon company, and to order the road moved to Macon. I h ive been very much pleased with what I have seen of Americus, gnd it would pleasure me to see tlu* road - owned and operated here. We cannot, however, do more than I h.#o stated- sell a road which represents a cost of $80,000 for $35,000. Those whom l rep- jcscut arc of the same opinion, and even if I were otherwise inclined I, would lie obliged to carry out their orders “Once more our proposition is to dis pose of our purchase for $35,000 if the sale can be made within a very limited time ” Mr. Kenny will be here several days yet, After.which he will leave for Macon. Yesterday Messrs. W. N. Marshall, general superintendent, E. S. Goodman, general freight agent, and W. K. Hawk ins, assistant to the president of the IS. A. A M. road, were in the city. They carno here for the purpose of confering with the officials of the other roads run ning into the city, in order to arrange the matter of the new road entering the union depot. “Nothing lias been definitely done as to this, hut the matter is now being con sidered by the officials of the different roads here and a conclusion will he reached in due time. “The new road has been graded to Clishy’s Park, a half mile north of the city. It is being pushed to a rapid com pletion. As fast as labor can do it the track is being laid. It is now about six- miles from the city, and well surfaced up for the passage of a train, “It is the intention of the officials of tho road to.run a train into this city in ten days from to-day. They will be on the* first train.” j©* BLACK-DRAUGHT tea cures Constipation. The tin-plate manufacturer when last heard-of had the milk sickness, over the next creek.—Columbus Post.
