An Important meeting of tie county
alliance of Sumter county was held at
the court house yesterday. The meeting
was largely attended, every single per
son who had a rlght.to be there being
present At a consequence the county
court room was full.
The meeting was a great victory for
Livingston and a defeat for Northern
While nothing definite could be learned
It was said to a reporter that parries
who had promised the county to Northcn
had hoped and indeed had worked to
have the meeting endorse that gentle
man. But the alliancemen have heads
and Ideas of their own and they pro
ceeded to pass by a rousing majority
resolutions endorsing Col. Livingston
and naming him as the county’s choice
for the presidency of the state alliance
to succeed himself. Tlieso resolutions
were of a ringing tone and are quite
complimentary to Col. Livingston, for no
better assembly of men was ever con
gregated in Sumter county than that
which passed the resolutions.
Tier reporter was informed that reso
lutions were passed scoring Governor
Nortlien quite heavily. An allianceman
who was in a position to know denied
that, adding signilicantly:
Ho is too dead for us to think of res-
urrect'ng him now.”
By a unanimous vote the meeting paid
a high and deserved compliment to Maj.
W. A. Wilson by endorsing him and nom
inating him for the vice-presidency of
the state alliance. Maj. Wilson Is an en
thusiastic allianceman, a faithful and
earnest worker. lie would make an
offlebr well fitted for the first lieutenant
of Col. Livingston, and the Alliancemen
of all South Georgia will he glad to have
him elected.
These otllcers were elected for tbo
county alliance:
D. C. N. Burkhalter, president, N. A.
Ray, vice-president, J. A. Wilson, seerr-
tary, J. F. Easterlln, treasurer, W. A.
Wilson, lecturer, J. H. Rogers, assist
ant lecturer.
This was another Livingston victory,
Mr. Burkhalter makingliisrace squarely
on that line. The officers chosen are all
good and well known men. By outsiders
the election of Mr. Burkhalter is con
sidered as specially apt. He Is an al-
lianceman in the strictest sense of the
word and will do all he can for the order,
at tbo same time,ho is not so carried
away by his alliance proclivities as to
totally disgrcgaril the rights of others
and go blindly into any movement that
is not fair and considerate. He is a fair
man, and will do much to draw closor
together tbo ranks of the alliance and
non-allianccmen which, happily to statu
aro already drawing nearer each other. I
Tiie Timks-Recohpeh predicts that Mr. I
Burkhalter will make a model president. |
This committeo was appointed to |

Many people who would scarcely no
tice an armless or legless man will In
stantly detect and remark on any blem
ish of the human face, and dive into all
sorts of speculations as to its cause and
attendant circumstances. If you doubt
this assertion become possessed af a dis
colored optic and note how much atten
tion It will invite. A black eye Is gen
erally avoidable, but blotches, pimples,
and other scrofulous anil eruptive marks
steal upon ns without warning, and aro
frequently the first Intimation of the
fact that our blood is going wrong. A
prompt and systematic use of P. P. P.
(Prickly Ash, Poke Root and Potassium)
will purify the blood, cleanse the skin
and give back to tbo face natures famil
iar, ruddy signs of henlth. Get It of
your druggist.
