C., July BO.—Xation- | al'politics was the topic of conversation | in this city yesterday, consequent upon | the meeting of the executive committee j of the national republican committee, j The going out of Quay and Dudley i caused no surprise or comment. It was expected, and it wasn’t, and j that is about the length and breadth of | it. It is said that every member of tho executive committee is opposed to Har rison, save John C. Xow, who wasn’t there. All of them favor Elaine, and there is a general feeling that if the convention could he held to-morrow Elaine would be tho nominee of his party, with plenty of votes to spare. This may not sound very complimen tary to Harrison, but it is a hard-pan fact. It is suggested that if Elaine can not run, some other man besides Harri son should be put on the course. If McKinley should carry Ohio ho will cut a big figure in tho next republican convention. The more conservative members of the committee symposium admit Blaine’s popularity, but the opin ion was reiterated that it was a little too early to begin picking out presidential candidates. The prospects of tho fall elections in Ohio, Iowa and New York were discussed in the committee, and it was decided to spend money in these states. McKinley, beyond doubt, will need a lot of boodle to help him through, and the Ohio demands are urgent. The alliance movement was a snag the committee struck early. A big mass of correspon dence relativo to the movement of the third party people covered the desk of the secretary. Dozens of other sugges tions and other dozens of private hitters were presented. All that appeared to be of any value were read and considered. Tho moving out of Quay and Dudley leaves all to Harrison. They are both Blaine men and they intend going to work for him. Dudley especially is greatly “soured” by tho treatment Har rison has vouchsafed to him, and ho is open in his preference for tho Maine statesman. The selection of the date and place of the full meeting of tho committee was entrusted to Quay and Sloat Fassefc, with the restriction that it must be called in November, a month later than these dispatches guessed yes terday. This implies that the next con vention may be called to meet in May, M>2, or not later than Juno. for Infants and Children. * ^Mtorlalesoweflt* v«’. .vthfldm ^cni Ir -ttumend itaa super Ajprescrfr-ioa I wurILmiacff, Diarrhea.
