6 THE aMERICUS WEEKLY TIMES-RECOKDER: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1803 HACK FOB LIFE. “Sho’s y’ live—d’ co’plexion kims aftah d’ Blood—what’s dis he—a— be3u’ful co’plexion guar nteed if d’ blood am pure! Befo’ d’ Lo’d dat am salvation fo’ Aunt Sophy.” All we claim for it is an unequaled remedy to purify the blood and in vigorate the liver. All the year round you can depend on Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery in all cases of blood-taints or humors, no matter what their name or nature. It’s the cheapest blood-purifier sold through druggists. No matter how many doses of other medicines arc offered for a dollar. Why? Because it’s sold on a peculiar plan, and you only pay for the good you get. Can you ask more ? “Golden Medical Discovery ” is a concentrated vegetable extract, put up in largo bottles ; contains no al cohol to inebriate, no syrup or sugar to derange digestion ; is pleasant to the taste, and equally good for adults or children. The “Discovery” cures all Skin affections, and kindred ailments. This is the way with the Ball corset: if you want ease and shapeliness, you buy it—but you don’t keep it unless you like it. After two or three weeks’ wear, you can return it and have your money. Comfort isn’t all of It though. Soft Eyelets, and "bones” that can’t break or kink—Ball’s corsets have both of these. Xi;w York, October 1(J V —The Ignited I States steamer Atlanta anchored in the ! hay here last night after the severest struggle with the elements that any ship of the new’ navy has ever expe rienced. The vessel left here early last Sunday morning for Assateague Shoals to help the Despatch. ’ Near the Delaware breakwater sheen- countered a terrible gale and drifted at the mercy of the wind and sea, only twenty miles from the coast until day light Wednesday morning. On Monday night her decks were swept by terrific seas, which smashed the port hawse hole, cracked the sheath ing of the main deck and flooded the berth deck. An enormous wave breaking on her quarter flooded double compartment be tween hold and berth deck. This deck is divided by a partition, the forward being the provision depart ment and aft the store-room. In the provision department was stored a quantity of Japan drier. The basis, which is a naptha pump rigged to re lieve the vessel'of water and light, was lowered, when the naptha gas exploded. F. C. James and James Monahan were badly burned about the hands, neok and arms, and fatally injured by breathing the ignited vapor. Others injured are Henry Helja, Aloic Xowac, J. E. Ell and Joseph Merriam, all severely burned. On Wednesday the storm abated and the vessel run into the Delaware break water. Captain John W.
