It’s as peculiar in its compo sition, as in its curative effects, in all the diseases and disorders that afflict womankind. It’s a legitimate medicine—an invigorating, restora tive tonic, a soothing and strength ening nervine, and a positive rem edy for female weaknesses and ailments. All functional disturb ances, irregularities, and derange ments are cured by it. There’s nothing like it in the way it acts— there’s nothing like it in the way it’s sold. It’s guaranteed to give satisfaction in every case, or the money paid for it is promptly re funded. Read the guarantee on tho wrap- per. You lose nothing if it doesn’t help you—but it will. The system is invigorated, the blood enriched, digestion improved, melancholy and nervousness dis pelled. It’s a legitimate medicine, the only one that’s guaranteed to give satisfaction in the cure of all “female complaints.” This is the way with the Ball corset: if you want ease and shapeliness, you buy it—but you don’t keep it unless you like it. After two or three weeks’ wear, you can return it and have your money. Comfort isn’t all of It plough. Soft Eyelets, and J'boiles” that can’t break or (kink—Ball’s corsets have both of these. One para graph thus obliterated referred to the sympathy expressed fur the Uussiau Jews by Stepniak and Kennan. The other challenged Goldwin Smith's un derstanding of the Russian question. The censor is said to have sev eral ways ot striking out objectionable passages in periodicals or books. Some times they are cut or torn out, but the more frequent way, when the passages are small, is to “caviare” them. In this •process they are blacked out “by means of a rectangular stamp which has about the width of an ordinary newspaper col umn, and which is ‘cross-hatched’ in such a way that when linked and pressed upon tho paper it makes a close net-work of white lines and black dia monds. The peculiar mottled and grained appearance of a page of print that has been blacked out with this stamp suggested to the Russian readers a descriptive slang term for it, namely, ‘caviare.’ Any one who lias ever seen the black salted caviare of Russia spread upon a slice of bread and butter will ap preciate the felicity of the metaphorical comparison. From the noun a verb has been formed, and every Russian now un derstands that ‘to caviare’ means ‘to black out’ an objectionable page or par agraph by pi stamp.” 'Flic Amt-j ot subscribe! of non-delh that they ha< ng upon it the censor’s [Hebrew had number Russia, but complaints became so numerous be abandoned, int and Sinner.
