THE aMERICUS WEEKLY TJMES-RECORDER: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1891.
DIES AT THREE.
Used np.
It’s the only way to use some
things, but it’s a bad condition
for a man or woman. It means
disease. Take Dr. Pierce’s
Golden Medical Discovery.
That means health. It invig
orates the liver and kidneys,
purifies the blood and cleanses
and renews the whole system.
For all scrofulous humors and
blood - taints, and even con
sumption (or lung-scrofula), if
taken in time, it’s a positive
remedy. It’s tl guaranteed one,
In all diseases of the liver,
blood and lungs, it’s warranted
to benefit or cure, or the
money is refunded. No other
medicine of its class is sold,
through druggists, on this pe
culiar plan. You can judge
why. You only pay for the
good you get.
This is the way
with the Ball corset: if you
want ease and shapeliness,
you buy it—but you don’t
keep it unless you like it.
After two or three weeks’
wear, you can return it and
have your money.
Comfort isn’t all of It
though. Soft Eyelets, and
"bones” that can’t break or
kink—Ball’s corsets have
both of these.
Forsaleby GEO. D. WHEATLEY.

The crime that Tom Webb is charged
with is that of rape, and is said |to have
been committed on .Inly 0th in this,
Washington county, upon the ten year
old girl of Mr. J. N. Smith. The evi
dence brought out in the trial showed
that Webb bad been having frequent
connections with her, but as she was too
young to yield her consent, the jury
brought in a verdict of guilty.
Tom used to run as a train hand on
the W. iV T. R. K. Your correspondent
had a talk to-day with Tom, and lie says
that he is ready to go, hut does not feel
that he ought to hang, as lie did not
not know that lie was committing any
hanging crime. He also stated that he
hasn’t got any religion. In this he is a
little different from most negroes who
claim they are going right on to heaven.
Tom Webb makes this statement:
That he is not guilty of rape, but com
mitted the deed by the girl’s consent;
and that ho has been forgiven for his
sins, and is willing to go.
He shows no fear whatever. He will
be hung at 3 o’clock this evening pri
vately, and says he will not make a
statement on the gallows.
The Washington Rifles were appointed
as guards. He was dressed in a nice
suit of clothes given him the county.
Ho says that the sheriff has given him
all the .attention necessary. There is a
large crowd in town. Ho says if lie
makes a statement on the gallows it will
be the same as given you.

“You must be mistaken. I have been

by the peck.”—Texas Siftings,
Happy Hooftierfc.
Win. Timmons, postmaster of Idaville,
Ind., writes: “Electric Ritters has done
more for me than all other medicines
combined, for that bad feeling arising
from kidney and liver trouble.” John
Leslie, farmer and stockman, of same
place, says: “Find Electric Ritters to
bo the best kidney and liver medicine,
made me feel like a no -v man.” J. W.
Gardner, hardwaro merchant, same
town, says: Electric Ritters is just the
thing for a man who is all run down and
won’t care whether lie lives or dies; lie
found new strength, good appetite and
felt just like he had a new lease on life.

ON TO THE SEA !
liy Water and Hall Macon I* Now Con
nected With the Atlantic Ocean.
Macon, Ga., November 7.—For the
first time in the last thirty years Macon
is connected with the seaboard by both
river and rail.
The John (\ Stewart, a freight boat,
arrived in Macon this morning.
At 1:20 o’clock the first boom of a
cannon shook the city and aroused the
residents to the fact that a new era in
their commercial history had com
menced
The people Hocked to the wharves at
the foot of .Sixth street where the boat
was to be tied up.
As she came up the last reach the
whistles kept up a continuous shriek,
and every minute the cannon aroqsed
the sleeping echoes in the wooded banks
along the readies left behind and sound
ed the glad tidings of the opening of the
Ocmulgee to the ocean through the
streets of the city that since the last
boat blew for Macon landing, lias grown
and prospered, keeping pace with the
phenomenal prosperity of the empire
state.
Macon is very jubilant over the open
ing of transportation by water to the
ocean, and it may safely be predicted
that within the next few months the
river wharf of the Ocmulgee will be a
busy place.
