To Savannah’
It is a certainty!
The Sam road to complete its eastern
division.
Savannah’s anxiety about the extension
of the Sam road into her limits seems to
have had the wire edge worn off since i'.
is practically settled that such will be
the case in a very short time.
When this system is perfected it will
create the finest eastern route on the
railroad map
It will he the crowning event in the
industrial history of Americus, stlmu-
How Lost! How Regained t lating trade and converting this city into
the distributing point of all this section
of Georgia.
It stands a conceded and undenied fact
that such an extension will shortly ma
terialize and the Sam road will soon be
completed from Montgomery to Savan
nah, a monument to the financial skill
and ability of its enterprising projectors.
The Savannah Morning News thus
concisely sums up the whole situation:
Savannah will liavo by September 1
next a new route to tbo wort, and the
ltichmond and Danville will liavo a pow
erful competitor in the Louisville and
Nashville system.
The Savannah, Americus and Mont
gomery railroad, it is asserted on good
authority, will begin the work of extend
ing its lino from Lyons to Savannah early
in February, and the road will be com
pleted and ready to handle the fall busi
ness of next year. The Louisvillo and
Nashville is behind the Sara, and, it is
said, will assist it bj every possible means
to get to Savannah, because through it
the great western system will have an
outlet to the ocean and will be placed in
a position to have a line of steamers to
compete with the Ocean Steamship Com
pany.
Several months ago the Morning News
predicted that eventually a combination
of this kind would be consummated be
tween the Louisville and Nashville and
Sam roads, and now everything indicates
that the prediction is about to be real
ized.
The Richmond & Danville fell out
with the Sam just at the wrong time for
Itself and the right tirao for Col. Hawk
ins, the Sam people claim. Had the
traffic been broken off several months
ago the Sam, they say, would have been
greatly injured, because it would have
had a hard time to have gotton good con.
noctlons. llut now the road has com
pleted Its line into Montgomery, where
It has tapped tlio Louisvillo A Nash
villo.
Tho row between the Richmond &
Danville and Sam gave tho Louisville &
Nashville tho opportunity it had been
watchlnglfor a long time and it jumped
at the chance. The Richmond A Dan
ville peoplo thought the Sam was in
spell condition, the latter people say,
that its authorities would have to make
overtures to It and they could be settled
on a basis laid down by them. But they
reckoned without their host, When they
ran against Col. Hawkins. He had been
on the lookout for just such a step as
was taken and was prepared accord
ingly.
He took the breaking off of traffic ar
rangements with an unconcern and cool
ness which surprised even his friends.
He said nothing, but quietly awaited de
velopments. Ho didn’t have to wait
long. The Louisville and Nashville had
seen the advantages of getting to Savan
nah and, It is said, they waited upon
Col. Hawkins.
The results of the conference are not
known any further than It has been given
out that the work of extending the road
will begin in February. Col. Hawkins
is in Now York now making the neces
sary tlnancial arrangements.
The Sam road oxpects to form a com
bination with tho South Bound for ter
minals, and both roads will coinc into
tho city in a union depot.
A great deal of traffic, it is said, will
bo exchanged between the new roads,
and the outlook for Savannah’s railway
future is Indeed bright.
Another lino of line steamers plying
between Savannah and New York means
a splendid increase of ocean traffic, and
with the LouisvilU and Nashville pour
ing its tremendious western freights
into Savannah the city will increase rap
idly in finances and population.

KEEP YOUR BLOOD PURE.
One of the most frequent and insidious
causes of bad health is Impure blood.
This disorder of the system does not
always manifest itself outwardly by
sores, oruptions, etc., quite often the
soredess la altogether internal. The kid
neys feel sore, the liver feels sore, the
lungs feel sore, and a decay sets it that
too often ends fatally. It Is much more
serious for blood poison to manifest it
self Internally than externally. In such
cases neglect means death, for the vital
organs once contaminated grow worse
unless they grow better, and they will
never grow better unless the proper rem
edy Is applied. There is no remedy that
equals
Dr. John Hull’. SarsaparUln.
as a curative agent in cases of blood poi
son. When other remedies miserably
fall to give relief, this remedy always
checks its terrible ravages, even in in
stances of scrofula or syphillis, and re
stores the blood to a state of absolute
purity. Large bottle (102 tcaspoonfuls)
