The Savannah Press attempts to belit

that be "bellowed like the bull of Boetla

maintained that borloe vociferation In

LOW • PRICES • PREVAIL
THAT WAB TAX.
One reason, and parbeps the chief one,
why tba banks In all tbe Northern
cities are fnll of money is that nearly all
tbe pension money, nmountleg to abou
8160,000,000 a year, Is distributed almost*
wholly In tbo Northern State*. * A very
large part of this money Is drawn from
the South. If It came bsek again the
South would not bava to much cause to
complain of the pensloo burden, but tbe
amount that comas book is too small to
be worth considering. Millions of dol
tan are taken from tbe South every year
and distributed In tbe North.
Thla pension money Is, of course, paid
by tba pensioners to the shop-keepers In
the villages and elites, and gradually
llnda Its way to the banks.
This pension money Is equal to tbe
produot of tbe tabor of at least 600,000
men, and Is a groat advantage which tbe
North has ovsr the South. Moat of tbe
pensioner* ere producers, and doubtless,
the majority of them earn a living. The
8160,000,000 annually distributed In pen
slob* Is, therefore, that muoh added to
tbe oapltal of the north. It Is not to be
wondered at, therefore, that the North
la *o much richer than the South, not
withstanding the South'* superior ad'
vents gn.

pension money I* distributed In tbe
