may bo of use to state, on the highest
authority, that Spam will never, no

compromise in Cuba beyond the broad
measure of autonomy drafted by the
Liberal government. This is nn abso

time and arousing unfounded hopes.

“Tho Devil’s Auction” is the very
Inappropriate name of a play. The
idea of Satan having any “goods” to
sell is ridiculous.
A Question Often Asked by Those
Afflicted With Piles.
Is a strained joint curable? Is local
inflammation curable 0 Of course, if
properly treated. So is piles.
People often become afflicted with
piles and ask some old “chronic" who
has always persisted in the wrong treat
ment and naturally ho discourages
them by telling them that their case
is hopeless.
They in turn discourage others, and
thus a disease that.can in every case be
; cured by careful and skillful handling

the tronble in a few days.

of the proposed bond issue by the city

Serious Result Sometimes Follow its
Excessive Use.
Common soda is- all right in its place
and indispensable in the kitchen and
for cooking and washing purposes, but
it was never intended for a medicine,
and poople who use it as such will
some day regret it.
We refer to the common use of soda
to relievo heartburn or aonr stomach,
habit which thousands of people
practice almost daily, and one wh'ch
is fraught with danger; moreover the

culture. The society is doing a vast
deal of good in the interchange of ideas
and discussions upon farm w< rk, and
there should he a large increase in
membership this year.
Atlanta to represent the city's interests
in the hearing
The story of Americas' bond issne of
335,000 for pnblic improvements is too
well remembered to be re-told here.
Twice last year the paople voted for
bonds, bat each time the issne was
blocked by injunction proceedings, and
finally landed iu the supreme court at
the instance of those who sought to
defeat the moasure.
The city council is confident of a
favorable decision ami the resnlt is
awaited here with the greatest interest.

NOT ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD.
A fart often overlooked, or notulways
understood, is that women snlfer as
much from distressing kidney and blad-
dcrtroubles as the men. The womb is
situated back of and very close to the
bladder, and for that reason any dis
tress or inconvenience manifested in
the kidneys^back, bladder or urinary
passage is often, by mistake, attributed
to female weakness or womb trouble of
some sort. „
Tbe error is easily made and maybe
as easily avoided by setting nrine aside
for twen'y-fonr hoars; » sediment or
settling ia evidence that your kidneys
and blndder need doctoring. If yon
have pain or doll aching in the back,
pass water too frequently, or scanty
supply, with smarting or burning—
those are also convincing proofs of kid
ney trouble. If you hare doctored
without benefit, try Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy.
The mild and the extraordinary effect
will surprise yon. It stands the high
est for its wonderful cures. If yon take
medicine yon should take tbe best.
