London, Feb. 17.—The Chronicle's

drift on the left flank of the Boers'
main position.
"Both columns are now marching
north parai i with each other.
"Tue Bri.ish captured many prison-
ertf, but their casualties were slight."
The Chronicle also has the following
from Wageo lie*, dated via Moduer river,
Feb. 16, tiibrn>ng:
"General Koliy-Kenny, with the
Sixth division, has entered Jucobsdul.
Tuo Boers made a feelle attempt to
hold the eastern bridge, but were out
flanked by the mounted infantry and
retired. There were few Bruisn casual
ties.
"The division then evacuated Jacobs-

French'a cavalry, which crossed tho
Moddor river and engage! tho eueniy,
who retired with heavy losses.
"The Seventh diviMon crossed the
Riet river east of Koffyfontein and
drove the enemy before them.
"General Tucker it now on Colonel
Kelly-Kenny's right and will probably
effect a junction with his force. 1 10

Tbe carpenters and workmen in other
