Londo.v, March 3.—President Kroger

the presidents by the burghers and Af-
rikanders in the British colonies rAtber
than in the personal inclinations of the
presidents, as all the available informa

the resources of the republic are much
more enfolbled than ihey seem to be at
present, although some significance is
attached to the consuhation in view of
the reported visit to England of Chief
Justice Devilliers, Mr. Homier and Dr.

Boers are apparently rallying with their
accustomed ability to repair a tempo

to teat their force as a defensive power
under the new conditions of warfare.
Conspiracy In Brazil.
New Yoke, March 3.—Tho Herald’s
correspondent in Rio Janeiro says in
formation has reached that city that
armed British forces in Brazilian terri
tory, near Rio Braucos, have hoisted a
British flag. The authorities arrested
somo persons suspected of conspiracy

of the army and navy are among the
suspects.

London, March 3.—A dukedom for
Roberts; an earldom for Kitchener and
a peorago for Boiler, thus jay the proph-
ets already busy ut this occupation. If
cnly the marvellous wave of enthusias
tic rejoicing that swept over the coun
try this week, could find its prototype
in material rewards, Lord Roberts and
his fellow heroes of tho hour would all
be made dukes forthwith.
The change that has come over Great
Britaiu’a war dream can ouly be appre
ciated by those who went through those
long four months of unequalled gloomi
ness and depression utnl what are now
freely admitted to bo defeats.
To a certain extent it was quite un
characteristic of the British race aud
quite put in the shade any demonstra
tions that occurred in the Uuited .States
during the Spanish-American war.
Kimberley was relieved and scarcely
• stir was noticeable in this dousely
populated United Kingdom. Lord Rob

eral Crouje in a vice and annihilated
him, and the nation said welldoue with
several degrees less fervor than it would

barriers of British self restraint and re
serve were not yet broken down.
Ladysmith was relieved. Then came
the desiro to publicly exhibit rejoicing
which could no louger be denied. The
long casualty list pussed almost un
noticed. Who cared for the dead ex
cept to sing their praises? The intoxi

It will be known as the Empire build-

Mr."Coolidgo stated that as soon as
tho Empire building was constructed
he would probably begin the construc
tion of another big oflice structure in
Atlauta. He has already purchased the
property on which it is probable the
contemplated structure will be built.
Mr. Coolidge is 'thusiastic in his
praises of Atlanta.

Everything in this broad universe is governed by this
little word, which means so much. The earth revolves; the
