....To Supply Your Wants....
Wants multiply fast at this season of the year. Things
not thought of a month ago become absolute necessities now.
First in the field with the newest and most wanted things is
this store. If that truth sticks then you’ll be inclined
to Investigate. If its quality, if its style, it its price
moderation, If its anything or everything that goes into first
class progressive storekeeping, then you’ll be apt to find it
right here If not here, then if it’s to be had we'll get it for
you That’s a fair proposition, isn’t it? THIS STORE LIVES
by properly serving an appreciative public.

Will Be Made Occasion of Great
Celebration.
The Seaboard Air Line Railway, of
which new system the Georgia & Ala
bama Railway will be an important
part, will open its through route be
tween Tampa and Richmond with great
eclat. The executive officials have de
termined upon an opening that will be
dazzling, and the many who will par
ticipate in it will enjoy themselves to
tbe utmost as the guests of the great
system that has been consolidated
through the financial genius of John
Skelton Williams and his associates,
June 1st has been fixed npon as the
date of the opening in Savannah. The
event, however, will, by no means, be
confined to that city, for at most of the
important points along the route there
will be celebrations of the opening up
of the new line.
OFFICIAL BALLOT IS ORDERED
For Democratic Primary For County
Officers.
The “official ballot” the use of whiob
proved so entirely satisfactory in the
recent primary, will be used io June
Htb primary for theuominatiou of coun
ty officers. At a meeting of the Coun
ty Execntive Committee yesterday
a resolution was adopted favoring the
official ballot, and Chairman PiLbury
was authorized to prepare such tickets
to he used as prescribed nlready by
the committee. All candidates com
plying with said requirements will
have their names npon the official I al
lot. This ticket greatly facilitates the
counting of votes, on account of its
uniformity, and its use is altogether
dosirable.
Tbe County Democratic Executive
Committee met yesterday moruiug and
consolidated the vote of Tuesday's
primary for statehouse officers, con
gressman, senator and other officers,
as given below.
The result may bare bten surprising
to some, but iu politics many surpris
ing things are to be expected.
After the committee, Chairman I’ils-
tmry presiding, had thoroughly can
vassed the vote of this and the several
county precincts, they declared the re-
snlt of the primary, as follows:
For Governor, A 1). Candler . 1004
Secretary State, I’hil Cook 1008
Comp. Cen'I, W. A. Wright, . 1071
Treasurer, Robt E Park 1070
Com. Agriculture, O B. Stevens 1008
School Com., G. R. Glenn .. 1000
Prison Com. (full term)
C A. Evans 1008
Prison Com (unex term) T. Eason. 1073
Attorney-Gen’l, J. M. Terrell 1070
U. S. Senator, A. O. Bacon 1004
Judge Sup. Ct, Z A. Littlejohn... 1031
Sol. Gen., F. A. Hooper 1053
For senator for Thirteenth senatori
al district, Hon. J. E. Hayes received
1055 votes m the county.
Much interest was manifested in the
legislative race in Sumter, prohibition
being tbe main issue injected into the
campaign.
The result between the five aspirants
was as follows:
W. T. Lane, 580; B. L. Joiner, 538;
C. S. S. Horne, 440; E. O. Speer, 401;
W. A. Webb, 130. Messrs. Lane and
Joiner receiving the highest votes were
declared the nominees of the party and
will be duly elected as Sumter's repres
entatives in the House.
For congressman, Judge Alien Fort
received 089 votes; Mr. Lewis 375.
Some voters scratched both iu castiDg
their ballots
At all events the issue iu Tuesday’s
primary, as between all the candidates
interested, has been settled and the re
sult declared by the executive com
mittee. And thus ends one of the
liveliest contests ever witnessed in
Sumter.
OUR PRICES ARE PERSUASIVE.

A staitling luoldont, of which Mr.
John Oliver of Philadelphia, was tbe
subject, it Is narrated by him as follows:

ROSS DEFEATED TROY HOLDER
For Sheriff of Stewart County By
Close Vote.
ShcrillTroy Holder, of Stewart coun
ty, was in Americas yesterday and told
of the battle of ballots there, though
the result was anything than pleas
ing to that very excellent official. His
opponent, Mr. CyruB Ross, won tbe
sheriff's race by five votes and captur
ed an office which Sheriff Holder has
filled moBt acceptably for ten'or twelve
year*, and which he probably, lost by
over-coufidonce. In tbe senatorial
race Mr. G. Y. Harrell defeated Capt
Fitzgerald by five votes only. For
congress Mr. Lewis’ official majority in
Stewart was 101 votes.
