to Yung Lu, commander-in-chief of tho
northern armies, to join Li Hung Chang
have been countermanded.

Ching Wan Tao.
An order has been sent to Shanghai
for the immediate delivery of u plant
for the construction of n brnuch railroad
from TaugHo on tho Gulf of Liao Tung
to Ching Wan Tao, also for the re-erec
tion of a pier to which ships may be
nioorod. It is expected that the work
will bo completed within two months,
thus securing facilities for a winter
port

moving from Shen Hai Kwan toward
Chin Chau.
Tho Germnus have demauded posses
sion of the railroad between Tien Tsin
tod Peking and the Russians have
agreed to let them have it. The Ger
mans will shortly begin to repair the
portion of the road between Yang Tsiug
and Peking.

cratic majority of 70,000.
Ten counties that have for several
years given a Populist majority have
been reclaimed, while in only two^
Harrabon and Paulding—is a Populist
gain noted.

the return of two negro members of the
legislature, one from McIntosh and tho
otner trow Liberty, where the negro ei-
ment predominates in overwhelming
numbers.
One of the most important results of
the overwhelming victory of the Demo
cratic ticket is the feeling of coutideucc
and assuranco which 70.000 majority
will carry to the struggling masses of
the party in the doubtful states. This
enormous majority stands as a direct in
dorsement of the national Democratic
candidates and tiro Kansas City plat
form.

vessels of all kinds, foreign and coast
