M
Ximea-Kccordor heart’ly endors-
tlie following editorial from tho Ma-
Tel. u'rapli rcspeetinR that shallow

Sampson, the man who
r ated ni“

,j 0 n to rob Admiral Schley, as far as
MiiWi’.of tho glory he alono achieved
j a oblitrrating the Spanish fleet at
Santiago- This latest slobbering of lit-
[le Hobson 1 a moBt nauseating.
! commenting upon the vaporings of
Hobson the Telegraph says:
Lieut, llobson is quoted as saying in
[ ydaiita Monday that Admiral Samp-
j is dying of broken heart; that “in
[ (jje clamor of calumny and detraction
behold bis peace;" that in his (Hob-
| opinion ho (Sampson) “is tho co
ital figure of the Spanish-Amencan
, a r.' and that he had told Mrs.
Sampson, tho secretary of the navy
ini tho president that as soon as ho
fonld got at them he would tell theso
things to “mv Southland."
Xbis is all important if trne, and
news in any event. Bat Hobson is
generally a storm centre of news,
’Whatever the fate of Sampson, we
hope that Hobson will not die of tho
eipausion of the upper part of bis an
atomy. We can weep for a broken
heart, but there is little sympathy for
a swelled head,
We liavo no donbt that the admiral'a
health may bo bod, but tho idea that
he is dying of a broken heart is all
rot. Why shonld he? Does not the
official documents on flle in tho navy de
partment give him credit for fighting
a battle at a twelve-milo range? Does
not all officialdom unite in tho theory
I that he fonght tho battle? If a few
[ common folks on the outside hold to
the view that the men behind the guns
had a hand in it, and that the superior
officer immediately upon the scone was
notaaleep, why should it crush him?
Wbat has “my Southland" got to do
I with it? Why shoald Mrs. Sampson,
the secretary of the navy and tho
president commission Lient, Hobson to
lead his “Southland" out of tho fog
and tho darkness on this subjeet?
It is more of a case of swellhead
than brokon heart, we fear.

FERGUSON HAS WITHDRAWN
Bollock, the reconstruction governor
ol Georgia in the sixties, has rushed
into print in support of tho Republican
party in the present campaign. Tho
Georgia papers are making it very nn
pleasant for him. The Macon News,
lor one, reminds him that tho State
[ Road lost t! ,000,000 under his adminis
tration. and that tho State debt was
less than $9,000,000 at the beginning
aad more than $12,000,rxx) at tho end of
it, besides “indorsed bonds” to tho
amount of noarly $(1,000,000 more. The
Savannah Press also recalls theso and
other tacts of his record, and wickedly
suggests that his ex-Excellency “shonld
remember tbo words of the judge to
the recalcitrant prisoner who continncd
to month during tho trial of his case:
‘What wo wont from you, sir,’said
the judge, ‘is silence, apd d d little
ol that.’ ”
Labor Party Will Support tho Clark
Faction In Jlontunn.
Helena, Mon., Oct. 27.—At midnight
last night tho central committco of tho
Labor party, which bad been in session
all day, filed with tho secretary of stato
tho resignation of J. A. Pergnson, con-
didato for governor, ond tho resignation
of tho other candidates on tho stato
ticket and presidential electors.
Tho Union tabor party now has ex-
Governor James T. Toolo, fusion candi-
.. 0 J 0T J fov . ern °r, tho head of its
tjc*®*- The fusion ticket is tho W. A.
Clark ticket, against which are now ar
rayed tho Independent or Daly Repub
licans and Democrats. Ferguson says
he withdrew to secure the election of
Toole, as ho had no chanco of winning
himself. B

The akin is the seat of an almost end
less variety of diseases. They are known
by various names, but are all due to the
6amc cause, acid and other poisons in
the blood that irritate and interfere with
the proper action of the skin.
To have a smooth, soft skin, free from
all eruptions, the blood must be kept pure
and healthy. The many preparations of
arsenic and potash and the large number
of face powders and lotions generally
used in this class of diseases cover up
for a short time, but cannot remove per
manently the ugly blotches and the red,
disfiguring pimples.
