Porter, the sclf-cv>iife.sscd murderer
of Louise Frost, who was burned at the
stake by a mob of men at Lake Station
last night. In fact, fcho coroner can tin a

quest A few men remained late last
night at tho spot oat on tho prairie
where tho murder was committed and
avenged and replenished the fire again
and again, until every vestige of the ue

that 70J people witnessed the execution.
While no one witnessed tho crema

before the fire was lighted and remained

Limon, Colo., Nov. 17.—Chained to o

on the exact spot where bis fiendish
crime was committed, John Porter last
evening paid a terrible penalty for his
deed.
The father of tho ranrdered girl
touched tho match to tbe fuel which
had beeu piled around tho uegro, and 20
minutes later a last convulsive shudder
told that life was extinct. What agony
the doomed boy suffered whilo tho
flames shriveled up bis flesh could only
be guossed from the terrible contortions
of bis face and tho cries ho gave from
time to time.
The executors, who numbered about
300 citizens of Lincoln county, had not
tho least semblance of the ordinary mob.
Grimloy they stood in a circle about
tho fire until the body was entirely con
sumed, and thoa qniotly took their way
back to Limon, whence they deported
for their homes shortly afterward.
Porter did not soem to realizo the aw-
fal punishment that he was destined to
undergo. For more than an hour, while
