The new trains to be put on the Cen
tal between Amoricus and Columbns

the traveling public, giving two trains
daily in each direotion.
The superior court was still engaged
all of yesterday on the John L Harper
■ase which was entered upon the day
before. It is an important one, and
mil je concluded today.
It is not improbable that General
Joseph Wheeler, “Little Old Fighting
Joe,” will be an honored guest of
Americus during our Christmas Carni
val, if the attempt to secure the attend
ance of the Fourth Georgia ltegiment
here at that timo should prove suc
cessful.
The Carnival Committee is now
working to secure the military, and in

The Ladies Will Make This Feature
a Success.
The faot that the ladies have gone
actively to work upon the floral parade
is in itself an assnranoe that this feat
ure of the carnival will be beautifaland
in every way a magnificent success,
will be great.
An enthusiastic meeting of the ladies
was held in the parlors of The Windsor
yesterday, wnen all details of the pa
rade were arranged.
Sub committoes were appointed, and
these will leave nothing undone that
will in any i(ise contribute to the euc-
ceas of this beautifnl feature of Ameri
cus’ Christmas oarnival.
2 Aoommittee tfas likewise appointed
to call upon our merchants and urge
them to decorate their store fronts.
Of cpnrse all will do so, and thus put

A city with a population, carefully
counted, of 8,200, such as Americus,
ought to have more industrial eater-

build—factories.
The farmer who sold his Christmas

now, as it is a half cent lower, but tho

In the event the Fourth Regiment
comes to Amorions dnring the Carni

bo arranged. This would indeed be a
feature worth seeing.
Americas will be filled with visitors
during the holiday season, but thous
ands will oomo to the street fair who
wonid not come otherwise. A fair al

The dedicatory services at the Church
of the Redeemer on Sunday were most
interesting and impressive. Largo
congregations attended both the morn-

E. D. Sheffield Co. to Sell Their Stock
Immediately.
Having accepted a position with the
Bank of Commerce, made vaoant by
the resignation of Mr. Lott Warren, I
am compelled to close out the entire
stock of goods of the E. D. Sheffield
Co. at once so that I may enter into
my bank position by Jan. 1st. In
order to accomplish this I realize that
we muBt sacrifloe the goods to get rid
of them in so short a time. This we
will do. We all know that a merchant
who is in business to stay must charge
a reasonable profit on his goods or ul
timately fail. I propose to sell out our
entire stock at less than New York
cost, and much less than any merchant
can afford. It will pay you to buy
now at least a year’s supply. You will
not have auoh an opportunity again
soon. Come and see ns right awav be
fore the stock is badly broken. At
present our stock of shoes and doth
ing is complete, and quality second to
none in this city. While our dry
goods stock is small there are yet
many fine pieces of goods to be dis
posed of. We will sell the entire stoek
in a lump or in lots, at retail, or, in
faot, any way to snit the buyer. Re
member, this is yonr ohance now to
get what yon want for this stook must
bo sold right away. Very respeotfnl
