awarded Mr. Parker $25, while Mrs.
Cheek was given $100 as compensation

INTERESTING FOINT IS A ROBED
By Attorneys in Cate of Considerable
Interest.
At the conclusion of yesterday’s ses
sion of superior court Judge Little
john, by general request of members
of tbe bar, heard argument upon
question that may be of very consider
able interest ere the end is reached. It
was npon the right of Mr. H. £. Alien,
deputy superior court clerk, to attach
tbo name of his father, Clerk J. H
Alien, to executions and other court
papers, whioh it seems he has done for
a number of years at the direction of
his father. Deputy Clerk Allen testi
fied that he had been duly appointed
to that office in 1892, and had attached
the name of bis father, J. II. Allen, to
executions at bis direction, as stated.
Some of the attorneys contend that
Clerk Alien could not delegate such
authority, and this opinion was sus
tained by the supreme conrt in a case
carried up from this county recently
and in which the validity of an execu
tion was attacked. There are other
cases of an almost simitar nature pend
ing, wherein a fight is made upon the
signature of the clerk to certain conrt
papers, and for this reason the attor
neys asked to be beard pro and con by
the conrt yesterday.
