Helena, Mon., Dec. 13.—Coast train
No. IS, westbound, on the Great North
ern railway, was wrecked at Brockton,
233 miles cast of Havre, early today.
Three persons were killed and several
slightly injured.
Tho dead: Mrs. Watson, rosidonce
unknown; her aged mother, name not
learned; unknown Russian child.
Mrs. Watson was thrown through
window, tho glass severing her jugular
vein and slio bled to death. Her mother
and the child wore crushed to death.
The accident was caused by tho break
iug of a track ns the train passod over a
switch. The injured will nil recover.
JACOB L. BEACH . INDICTED
Former Prison Commissioner Churned
With Kinbrzzlemeut.
Brunswick, Ga., Dec. 15.—Ex-State
Prison Commissioner Jacob L. Beach
has been indicted by the Glynn county
grand jnry, now in session, on the
charge of embezzlement. The indict
ment was found some days ago and the
warrant for Mr. Beach's arrest was
served upon him in Atlanta. Mr. Beach
accompanied Deputy Sheriff Pyles to
Brunswick.
The indictment referred to is based
upon certain allegations connecting Mr.
Beach’s name with the redemption of
nnmerons Glynn county bonds, alleged
to havo been fraudulently issued in 1870.
It is alleged that be secured a number
of these bond's when ho was a county
officer and had thorn redeemed by the
county treasurer, after which lie seoured
the sntno bonds from the treasurer’s
vaults and had them redeemed again.

cago, Burlington aud Quincy railway's
fast itin.il. No. 15, which left Chicago at
9:15 o’clock last evening, was badly
wrecked 2 miles west of Kirkwood,
early today. Fireman Shannon was
killed and Eugineor Samnol Dove was
badly hurt. The ongiue jumped , the
track aud was demolished.
Two mail cars with their contents
were burned. Tho mail clerks were not
injured severely. All main liho trains
were delayed, being finally sent around
by Oquawa and Koithsbnrg.

Singular Death of John Phillips
Near Griffin.
Giuffin, Ga., Dec. 13.—A negro by
the name of John Phillips was killed on
tho farm of Dr. VV. P. Phillips while
driving up cattle. Ho - was riding a
male and had tho reins over his head,
as he galloped after the herd.
Thu mule became frightened and
throw him off, and iu failing the reins
became twisted aud held him tight,
while the ingle ran a half mile before it
was stopped.
Tho negro’s bead was almost in a
jelly, but as life was not extinct his in
juries were attended to, bat he was too
far gone to recover and died from the
effocts of his own foolishness.
