W:
Sir. Lalioucl.<-rr, us tlio .Minority of i
Parliaraontury Committer, Makes a i
Dissenting Report und “Tulles Out j
In Jleetlu^.”
Loxeok. April 4. —The report of the j
committee appointed to malte changes I
in the civil list recommends that the j
civil list lie fixed it about £170,000, as :
follows:
Privy purse, £110,000; salaries of I taste and
household and retired allowances, £195,-
000; works, £:!0,000; royatiounty, alms
end epecial services, £13,0C0; sundries,
£8,000.
The report recommends an annuity
of £50,000 to the Duke of Cornwall and
York, £30.000 to tuo Dnchelrof Corn
Wall and York and £0,000 te fOili of the
bine’s daughters. The queenjj
in the event of her survirid,
is i®creased to £70,000, and o3 annuity
of £30,000 is provided for the Duchess
Of Cornwall and York in the oteat of
her snxviviuff tho duko. The proposals
for tho civil lilt show a net increase of
£67,000.
LaLlcuchere l)la?st§.
Mr. LaBonchcre r tho sole signatory
of the minority report, thinks that do
increase is necessary. In a piquant
paragraph he says:
‘‘The committee did not deem it with
in tho scope ot their inquiry to consider
whether a continuance of tlio pomp of
pride and ceremony of tho court is de
sirable. Suggestions have been rife t hat
the cost of living has gone up among the
wealthier classes since her lato majesty
ascended the throne. This idea eeemsto
be due to tbe present ostentatious ex
penditure of some of those who have
suddenly acquired large fortunes, but
your committee does not bcliuvo tho
sovereign wonld desire to enter into
monetary competition with such persons
or encourage by his example sueu vain
glorious prodigality on tho part of his
subjects."
TRIAL OF WILLIAM MARTIN
Ail Excellent Combinution.
The pleasant method and beneficial
effects of the well known remedy,
aviiui* of Fios, manufactured by the
California Fio Syrup Co., illustrate
the value of obtaining the liquid laxa
tive principles of plants known to be
medicinally laxative and presenting
hernia tin* form most refresh i n g to t he
rentable to the system. It
is the one perfect strengthening laxa
tive, cleansing the system effectually,
dispelling colds, headaches anil fevers
gently yet promptly and enabling one
to overcome habitual constipation per
manently. Its perfect freedom from
every objectionable quality and sub
stance, and its acting on the kidneys,
liver and bowels, without weakening
or irritating them, make it the ideal
laxative.
In the process of manufacturing figs
ore used, as they are pleasant to the
ta.>te, but the medicinal qualities of the
remedy are obtained from senna and
other aromatic plants, by a method
known to the California Fio Syrup
Co. only. In order to get its beneficial
effects and to avoid imitations, please
remember the full name of the Company
printed on the front of every package.

OIL
is the life of paint;
Did you know that ?
Hence the ready mixed paint containing ingredients,
which years of experience have taught us to be the most
durable, mixed with l*ure Linseed Oil properly treated to
preserve its elasticity, will cover a greater surface as well as
prolong its durability and preserving qualities, thereby
making it only necessary to paint every few years; while the
cheap and inferior paint necessitates repainting in a very
short time, thus involving a greater outlay in the end.
