The great tent meeting to bo con
ducted here bj Rev,'.John B. Culpep
per, the well known revivalist, assisted
by his sons and some of the local
clergy, will begin tonight. The great
canvas tent, Besting ‘two thousand
people, wsB hoisted yesterday, and
everything is now in readiness for the
meeting.
This will continue over a period of
at least three weeks.
And it is rather expected that Amari
ens wilt be given a pretty lively shak
ing up within that period, if Mr. Cul
pepper’s reputation for hitting the
wicked and stating facts plainly is to
be snstained here.
And that it will he, all who know him
will bear testimony. His repntation
as a revivalist of force and power is
national.
He will be assisted here by the min
isters of the local Methodist churches
and others, as well as by his two sons,
Revs. Marvin and Burke Culpepper.
The latter is 'lkewise a sweet singer,
and will have charge of the musical
program during tho meeting.
It had been reported here that Bam
Jones and Rev. Broughton were com
ing to assist in the meeting. Such is
not the case, however, as this was not
even contemplated.
The first service tonight will draw a
large congregation, if the weather is
good. The hours of daily service for
the other dayB of the revival will be
announced tonight. An invitation is
extended the general public to attend
the meetings daily.
