Tbe citizens of\ Americas should

school of the Macon Presbytery located
here. Americas is the geographical
centre of the Mocou Presbytery, aao
iti healthfuiness ana desirability as a
place of residence will commend it as
the site of the school.
At the fall meeting of the Presbyte-
.ryot Macon, held in Colambns, the
fallowing resolution, touching the es
tablishment of a High School within
the bonnds of the Presbytery, was
unanimously adopted.
FOUND WITH WOUND IN SKULL.
Aiir.O'it lifeless Body of Negro on
Railroad Track.
The almost lifeless body of Lem
ReddiDg was found between two cross
ties on the track of the Seaboard Air
line a mile west of Plains at noon yes
terday, The discovery of the body
was made by Engineer John Goolsby,
of passenger train 72 which arrired in
Americas at 12:43 p, m.
The negro, in all probability, died in
a very short time alter removal.
>wing to the position of the body,
down between two crosstiee, Engineer

ichool for the education of bove and ex * mlD 6d him, A wound, seemingly a
girls within the bounds of the Presby-1 knife cut, was found in the forehead,
which leads to the belief that Redding
had been assaulted and bis body after
wards placed on the railroad track.
Redding was lying face down, and
the wonnd upon his forehead could
not possibly have been inflicted by the
pilot of tbe locomotive.
The negro's bat was found lying
some distance from the track.
Redding was a seotion band employ-
ed by tbe company and lived not very
far from Plains, The aflair is envel
oped in mystery, so far, bnt It is evi-
dent that a crime bad been committed
and an effort made to conceal it by put
ting tbe almost lifeless body on tbe
track.
The place where tbe body wss fonnd
is probably in Sumter county
scry and npder tbe control of same.
That this committee be further
anthorized and directed to coaler with
individuals and committees relative to
any financial support that might be
given for the locstion of said school in
their respective communities and re
port at tbe next meeting of Presbytery
at Cntbbert.
Tbe matter was referred to the fol
lowing committee: Revs. L. G, Hen
derson, Americas; E. D. McHougall,
TbomtsvHle; R. W, Alexander, Dub
lin; K. L. Mclver, Climax, and H. G.
Griswold, Quitman.
Tbe establishment of tneb a school
contemplates the moral as well as the
financial support of the Presbytery, and
ita location wonld bs helpfol to any
people.
Should tnis or any other comma nity
desire its location, it would be well to
correspond with any of tbe above nam
ed committee at once, as tbe plan will
begin to assume definite shape April

meets in Atlanta in just a week, and
will at that time fix the date (or the
state primary, it is hardly probable
that tbe Sumter county committee
will meet (or business until tbe state
oommittee has met.
This was tbe opinion of Chairman
Pilabnry yesterday, as well as that of
members of tbe loeal committee.
When the state oommittee acts, and
the dote of the stato primary for the
nomination of governor, state boose
officers eto, is made known, then the
local committee will aet.
It an early primary is named for the
state election the loeal committee
might deem it wise to order the conn
ty primary on the same date, tbns sav
ing tbo expense of one primary. Noth
ing to this effeot has been said, how
ever, and the committee will fix its
own date.
While the race in Sumter has not
tally opened as yet it ia generally be
lieved that quite a large number ol
candidates will enter later.
