Sumter’s veterans are enthusiastio
over the proposed trip to Dallas, and
full score of the old “boys in gray
are going there.
That college, if established here,
would disburse $13,000 to $15,000 an

Camp Sumter C. C. V. held a meet
ing yesterday, and besides electing
officers for the year discussed at length
the forthcoming reunion at Dallas
April 22nd to 35th. A party ol at least
twenty or twenty-five veterans and
their friends will go from Americus.
Judge J. B. Pitsbury was re-eleeted
commander of the camp here. The
other officers eleoted were:

A. Cobb, 2nd; T. J. Morgan, 3rd; J.

sented the camp and adopted.

delegates and their friends to Dallas
tor the confederate reunion in that city
is over the Seaboard Airline Railway

BIG EIGHTY SAW COTTON GINS.
Americas May Haye The Largest

The ereotion in Amerions of what
will be the largest ootton ginning es
tablishment in the Sooth, east of the
Miiaissippi River, is believed to be an
assured fact, and the plant will proba
bly be completed and made ready for
business daring the summer.
Negotiations to that end have been
in progress several days.
The Amerions Oil Oo., is said to be
the moveant in this very important
enterprise. The plant will be thorough
ly equipped and, it is said, means an
investment of $10,000 or $12,000,
It is understood that the plant will
be fniiy equipped with eight gins of
eighty saw capaoity, with all the latest
appliances and equipment belonging to
snob an enterprise. It is rnm^d that
a round bale press may also be install
ed, bnt this is doubtful.
However, the ginning plant seems
an assured fact, and a start may soon
be made npon it.

is an old and well known citizen of
Snmter, residing In the Old Sixteenth

high esteem. He is an old Confeder

ability to fill the office, and will appre
ciate the support of all in the primary.
