Neal, president of the Neql Loan and
Banking company, died this morKTig
at 7:45 o'clock at his home, fll Peach-
tree street, after a long Illness. Cap.
tfiln Neal became seriously 111 last
June and underwent an operation.
Since that time his condition has been
precarious and his lire had been de
spaired of several times. At times he
would rally and grow better, but Just
as he seemed to be on the eve of get
ting well he suffered a relapse. Yes-
terday his physicians had despaired of
bis life and this morning he passed
away. Captain Neal had spent many
years of his life in Atlanta and was
one of the rlty's most prominent clti-
aens and Influential business men.

Major John W. Green Dies.
Atlanta. April 11.—Major John W.
Oreen. one of the best known men In
Atlanta, died at his home, 25 Currier
street, this morning at 12:25 o'clock.
He had been 111 for several weeks and
his death was due to pneumonia. Ma
jor Green was formerly the general
manager of the Georgia railroad, but
had been In poor health for several
years and had been unable to do any
active work.

for Legislature.
Atlanta. April 11.—John M. Slaton,
R. B. Blackburn anil C. C. Houston will
be the representatives from Fulton
county in the next general assembly.
They were nominated In the order
named by the primary held yesterday,
J. R. Stamps will continue In the
flee of coroner, having won the nomina
tion -by exactly 99 votes over
strongest opponent. W. \V. Thompson,
Colonel John B. Goodwin and H.
Culhprson won the nomination for
county commissioners, while Colonel
Clifford L. Anderson, who had no op
position, was nominated commissioner
from the country by a vote of 4,966—
one of the largest polled.
Arnold Broyles, clerk of the superior
court, led the ticket with 5,006 votes,
and State Senator Clark Howell came
next with 4.997. All the courthouse
ofllcere received splendid totals.

tbe candidacy of Hon. W. T. Lane for
legialetive honors will be gratifying to
his many friends, who have been
awaiting hia decision in tbe matter.
Mr. Lane has twice represented Hum-
ter in the lower honse, and with abili
ty and distinction, reflecting credit
npon bis eonntv and constituents. He
will receive a very cordial support for
reelection at the primary on May 7th.

rives to Take Charge.
Augusta. Ga., April 11.—Director
Hlbbart. of Fall River, arrived in Au
gusta Monday- night to take personal
charge of all business relating to the
strike. He will remain here until the
strike Is settled. In two weeks the
King mil! strikers will he ordered to
leave the company's houses.

Waycross. Ga.. April 11.—Secretary
Wilson and Dr. Wiley, ot the agricultu

Purse, of Savannah, arrived In TJ’ay-
cross today from Jacksonville and
were met by a committee of citizens
to confer in regard to the cane and
cassava government experimental sta
tion to be established somewhere in
south Georgia. The secretary and his
escort will not be In Waycross long,
but will go directly to Brunswick,
where he will attend the cane and
cassava convention in that city.

British Steamer Stranded.
London, April 12.—The British
steamer Kinfauns Castle, homeward
bound from the Cape of Good Hope,
with 4*'0 passengers on board, stranded
off Bright Stone. Isle of Wight, at 2
o'clock ibis morning. The sea Is calm,
but the vessel's postton Is somewhat
dangerous. The passengers and malls
were lpnded by tugs. •
