Toe marriage in Macon last evening
ol Mias Cornelia Merritt and Mr. John
W. Stiver was an occasion of interest
in social circles in that city aa well as
Americas, the home of the groom, and
many will be the congratnlations ten
dered the young couple upon their re
turn here.
The marriage rites were solemnized
at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. It. A.
Merritt, on College street.
The society of Macon and Americas,
as well aa of other cities, was repre
sented in the brilliant assemblage at
the Merritt home, and the occasion
was one of much social prominence.
Among the Amerious party in at
tendance were Mr. Charles M. Conn
oil. Miss Connell, Ur. and Mrs. S. H.
McKee, Judge Charles R. Crisp, Mrs.
D. T. Wilson, Mrs. Belle Brown, Mrs.
E. C. Miller, of New York; Mrs. Ana-
ley and daughter Mrs. TV. C, Hall, of
Balt Lake City; Messrs. Edwin U
Sheffield and R. E. Lee.
The occasion was a brilliant and
beautiful one, and the esteem inwhieh
the handsome "couple (is Jhcld was at

The bride is one of Macon’s moat
onltnred, charming and beautiful
yonng women, and will be welcomed
to Americas' social realm. Mr. Shiver
ta one of the successful and deserved

city, and is congratulated npon his
good fortune.

Americas at 2 o’clock this afternoon.

The forthcoming primary for mem
bers of the legislature and co-aty
officers is going to be the most spirited
in years, and every citizen will want
to hare a hand in the selection of the
regular ticket. But to do this bi»
name must appear upon the usual reg
istration list.
And every good citizeu should put
himself iu position to vote.
Collector Dunn is uuw engaged iu
making up the registration list for the
two primaries, county and state, and
if yon are in doubt about being regie
tered, see Mr. Dunn today.
Everyone who paid last year’s taxes
is already upon the registration list
and need take no farther care in the
premises. But there are many who
did not do this, and last year’s taxes
mast be paid, if there is anything due,
ere one esnjiave bis name placed upon
the books.
Then, there is another cites of citt
zens entitled to register.
It is those who have become rest
dents of the town orconnty six months
prior to May Tlh. the date of the pri
mary; also minora who will be of age
by or before the date of regular state
election.
Even though one is not of age at
present, if he will at'tain his majority
by or before the day of the state elec
tion in Ootober next, he can register
now and vote in the primaries. New
comers here shonld also see to it that
they are qualified to register, and do
so at once.
Every farmer, merchant or business
man of whatever kind shonld pnt him
self in position to name Bnmter’s rep
resentatives and officials.
