THE AMERICUS WEEKLY TIMES--RECORDER: FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 1902. First Day of Thirty Second Annual Conclave. The Colored Malone Grand Lodge of Georgia assembled here in annual conclave yesterday morning, this being the li?nd. annnal meeting of that body. Nearly all of the two hundred lodges of the state are represented here by large delegations, It is indeed a fine body of intelligent j colored men. The opening session was held in the handsome Masonic bniiding in the northern portion of the city, erected by this body as the permanent home ol the Grand Lodge, Addresses of welcome upon behalf of the city and local lodge, followed by responses upon behalf of the Grand Lodge, marked the opening of yester day’s session. The speeches were all of pleasant vein and the visitors were made to feel that their presence was appreciated. Many prominent colored men of the state are here or expected today, among them Grand Master Butler, J. H. Deveaux, .Tndson Lyons and others of high position in the Grand Lodge. The colored Masonio Grand Lodge ol Georgia completed last night all im portant bnsiness and the thirty second annnal session comes to a close this morning. It has been an interesting and profitable one and largely attended. All of the Grand Lodge officers were re-elected and duly installed by Past Grand.Master John G. DeveaUx, of Sa vannah. A tablet containing the names ol Past Grand Masters A. K. Desver- ney and W. E. Terry was nuveiled yesterday. Addresses appropriate to the occasion were made by Jndson W, Lyons, Begister ol the Treasury, and John H. Deveaux, collector of customs at Savannah; Kev. W. D. Johnson, Jr. of Albany and Kev. Floyd Snellson ol Way cross. The Grand Lodge will ad journ today to meet again in Americus a year hence. MB. MABSR ALL DIED YE3TEBDAY Wellknown Citizen Succumbs to Long Illness. The announcement yesterday after noon of the death of Mr. Jonn W, Marshall was heard with extreme re gret here though, by virtue of his long illness and very critical condition for two days past, his many friends here were prepared for this sad intelli gence. The end came shortly after 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Mr, Marshall had been ill with typhoid fever for several weeks. Ke cently some slight improvement was noted, bnt this was temporary only and the grim messenger triumphed. The deceased had been a resident of Americas for twelve years, occupying a pretty home on Lee street. His du ties as traveling salesman kept him away much of the time, yet everyone here knew him well and esteemed him for his worth as a citizen. For fifteen years he was connected with the honseof WinD, Johnson & Co. of Macon, and in this capacity was well known over the stato. The deceased was a native of Pons- ton conoty. It was there he wedded Miss Wimberly, and their married life was an ideally happy one. She, with two sons and a daughter, survive him There arc also two grown sons by a former marriage, The funeral services will oeonr this afternoon at 4 o’clock. The pallbear ers are Messrs. G. T. The case of tbe Peoples Bank, like that of the Windsor Hotel will be a long time In adjudication, and the stockholders of both will not get anything in the immediate future, if they ever get any thing at all. It will be fnlly a month yet ere the "first bale" arrives, bnt it is coming, and fifty thousand others will follow it to Americas daring the next season.
