- - - MODERATION
The best advice we can give'to
shoe buyers is “avoid extremes”.
Don't pay too little—don't pay too
much. Don't go to the limit of
style, but don't neglect fashion all-
together.
We sell good, honest, reliable, de
pendable footwear, that will give
satisfaction day after day until
worn out. If you will trade with
us regularly the result will be that
you will save money and insure
foot comfort.

TRACEY’S BODY IS
STRIPPED FOR RELICS
People Are Wild To View Re
mains Of Dead Outlaw.
LOCKS OF HIS HAIR TAKEN.
When Body of Harry Tracey Reached
Davenport Hundred* of People
Crowded About the Morgue—Blood
stained Handkerchief as Relic.
Spokane, Wash., Aug. 7.—When tho
sheriff, with the body of Harry Tra
coy, drove through Davenport, bun*
dreds of persons followed up tbe
street and crowded about tbe wagon.
By the time tbe wagoa reached the
morgue, the streets were crowded,
and from every corner could be heard
“Three shouts for Lincoln county!”
The town was wild. The morgue
doors, had to be-closed and the crowd
was asked to stand back. Several
persons were allowed to see the body,
and then trouble began. Every one
wanted a relic, and in a short time
nothing was left but the body. Some
one even picked up the bloodstained
handkerchief which had been used
by the outlaw to keep from bleeding
to death. Before he oould carry the
awful relic away he had to do it up
In paper, as It was too wet to plane
in Ills pocket. Some one got the
strap which had been pulled around
his leg to keep him from bleeding to
death. That. too. was soaked with
blood w-lilch ran Trom the upper wound.
Many locks of the outlaw's-halr had
been taken. His trousers were cut
In strips, and before they were divided
they were cut into smaller pieces.
Many of Tracey’s cartridges were di
vided among tbe members of the
posse and those that could get at tho
buckskin bag.

keeper for the company, was
'destroyed by Are and water.
The origin ot tho lire Is unkn
The store ha'U been closed for I
not longer than 10 minutes, when C
H. Bonner, who does business

Ing and gave the alarm. Mr. Joseph
the head of the company, was le
than one block away when the alarm
sounded and some of the clerks were
on tbe street near by.
Examination made last night Indi
cates that the Are started at tbe bun
dle counter. The most plausible I
ory Is that It was due to an electric
wire.
The stock of goods Is a total loss,
owing to damage from Are and water.
The injury to the building Is slight.
The company carried Insurance
amounting to $32,000, distributed
among several companies.
For awhile adjacent buildings
