The object of King Victor Bmmanu-

embassy, is that the young king Is
simply making his first call since his
accession upon his friend, the empe
ror, that such was the only purpose
of his visit to Russia, and that It 18
quite probable that the king will vis
it France next year. Austria Is not
likely to bo visited by King Victor
Emmanuel for the reason that Empe

late King Humbert’s visit to Vienna
because ho wished to avoid offending
the Vatican by seeing King Hum

Four Ralls Between Washington and

Atlanta, Aug, 22.—The Southern
railway is to double track Its entire
lino between Washington and Atlan
ta. The contract for tbrf work ban
becn let and construction along tho
whole lino will begin In tho near fu
ture.
The work. In fact, has already be
gun, as the road now has several
miles of donble track In operation out
of Washington. Recently, whenever
a bridge or trestle or culvert has boon
rebuilt between Atlanta and Charlotte
the road has been careful to provide
room for two tracks.
The announcement that the con
tract for the double tracking of tha
entire line has been let comes from
Charlotte and It Is setated that the in
formation was given out from an ab
solutely authoritative source.
For some time the officials of the
Southern have recognized the neces
sity of having a double track between
Washington, and Atlanta, and they
have frankly stated that It is only
question of time until tbe double
track will be In operation.
