On the Main Street. The accident was one of the worst that ever occurred on this division of j tho Pennsylvania system, and was ■ Irighly sensational in ail its details, oc- earring as it did on the main street of tho town at a time when the thor oughfare was crowded with people. Train No. 35, westbound for Fort Wayne, had started out of the station, i)Ul at the main street crossing was compelled to stop on account of some accident to the brakes A flagmen was sent back to notltly AO. 19, a freight train going in the eaano direction, which waa several minutes late. Owing to the snow* storm, tho engineer of No. 19 was un able to see the signal in time to slacks en his speed. His engine crashed into tho rear of No. 35. No. 35 consisted of two coaches, the rear one being a combination baggage and passenger car, with another passenger car In front Both were telescoped, and scarcely a passenger escaped* injury of some sort. The engineer and fire man of No. 19 were also slightly hurt, »ut not enough to prevent them from rendering Immediate assistance to those who were In greater distress The scene about the wreck was frightful. Many people were con gregated about the spot at the time, and the street was well filled by way farers on their way homo from work The crash was heard all over the city, and almost the entire population was’ soon on hand to render what assis tance they could In caring for the .wounded and dead, who were at once carried* to the freight house and sta tion and laid on Improvised cots. The englno on No. 19 was almost demolished, but the cars behind it Were not damaged In the least, and none of the passengers were bruised. The wreckage was strewn all over the tracks, and In a few minutes the Chi cago and New York limited, cast vound, dashed through on the other track, at CO miles an hour, hurling the accumulated debris in all directions hut never pausing in Its flight until nair a mile from the town. Then the train was stopped and hacked to the scene of tho accident to get orders. No damage was done to tho engine of the flyer, but It was learned that a Piece of wreckage flew into the cab as the train dashed past and painfully bruised the engineer. Ho was how ever. able to continue his run, and left in a few minutes with his train ITH FURNITURE STORK T/USE I to most women is a term of I j anxiety, serious thought * ami.sweet anticipation, \v ith tile cessation of pain j accessary to childbirth, i there comes calm nerves, sleep and recuperation.
