All the blood in your body passes through
your kidneys once every three minutes.
The kidneys are your
blood purifiers, they fil
ter out the waste or
impurities in the blood.
if they are sick or out
of order, they fail to do
their work.
Pains, aches andrheu-
nmtism come from ex
cess of uric acid in the
blood, due to neglected
kidney trouble.
Kidney trouble causes quick cr unsteady
heart beats, and makes one feel as though
they had heart trouble, because the heart is
over-working In pumping thick, kidney-
poisoned blood through veins and arteries.
It used to be considered that only urinary
troubles were to bo traced to the kidneys,
but now modern science proves that nearly
all constitutional diseases have their begin
ning In kidney trouble.
If you are sick you can make no mistake
by first doctoring your kidneys. The mild
and the extraordinary effect of Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy is
sooA realized. It stands the highest for Its
wonderful cures of the most distressing cases
and Is sold on its merit*
by all druggists in fifty-,

lor Is dead as the result of the explo
sion of carbonated gas, used for mak
ing soda water, which wrecked
the rear room In her store. A bed
in one apartment was blown to splint
ers and th»s plastered ceilings were
reduced to dust.

■oda fountain, the gas for which came
from the tank, which stood about 30
feet In the rear.
Mrs. Taylor went to attach a tube
to the tank. Whether tho tank con
tained too much or whether the woman
did not handle it properly cannot be
learned. She had been gone from
the front part of tho store less than a
moment when tho explosion occurred.
Tho ceilings fell and parts of the
woodwork wore blown fully 100 feet

Turkey Adopting Measures to
Guard Frontier. .
AUTHORITIES ARE DISQUIETED.
MEMPHIS POISONING CASE.
Constantinople, May 16.—The Turk
ish authorities are disquieted at the
recent appearance of bands of Arme
nian revolutionists, coming from Rus
sia In the districts of Bayazld and Sas-
sun, Armenia, and are adopting rigor
ous measures to guard the frontier.
It is alleged here that the Russian
authorities of Kars, Asiatic Russia, are
aware of the movement of tho Arme
nian rebels, but they do not Intend to
interfere. It Is believed that the ap
pearance of these hauls indicate a re
vival of activity on the part of the old
Armenian committees who are under
stood to be anxious to be In a position
to take advantage of possible compli
cations arising from the Macedonian
situation, In which case the claims of
the Armenians will be revived and the
same advantages gained by the Mace
donians from European Intervention
will be demanded for Armenia.
The Armenian government has no
tified the Bulgarian ex-arch that Geras-
simos, bishop of Strumenitza, has been
Gerassimos, of Strumenitza, has been
removed and has Invited the ex-arch
to appoint his successor. The ex
arch, however, refuses to recognize the
authority of the Turkish government to
remove the bishop and has advised Ge
rassimos, who is practically a prison
er in his own house, to remain firm. It
Is alleged that Bishop Gerassimos is
a supporter of the Macedonian move
ment, but It is also stated that the
charges are brought by jealous Greek
clergymen.
The prisons of Macedonia are over
flowing with Bulgarians, the Turkish
authorities hoping to thereby paralyze
the action of the Macedonian commit
tees. It was announced today that the
Turkish troops entered Ipek, Albania,
yesterday, after stirring opposition.
Police Are Busily Engaged In Hunting
Up Clews.
Memphis, May 16.—The police are
making every effort today to locate
the place where the purchase was
made of the bottle of whisky and pois
on which was sent from this city to
Mrs. Kate Nobbe, of Cincinnati, and
which resulted In the death of John
B. Fickcr, an express employe of that
city.
Mrs. Lizzie McCormick, who was ar
rested at the Instance of the Cincin
nati police, remains in custody at the
county Jail and talks freely. She has
lost all semblance of nervousness and
answers questions without reserve. She
admits that she purchased a dime’s
worth of strychnine some two years
ago, and says it was for the purpose of
poisoning a dog, but it was laid away
and she never knew what became of
it.
Detective Houllllon, county prosecu
tor, Harry M. Hoffhelmer and Mrs.
Flckler, all of Cincinnati, are expected
to arrive in this city tomorrow. Detec
tive Houllllon will have with him the
requisition papers for Mrs. McCormick
as well as the package and bottle that
contained the poisoned whisky.
It Is stated that the name of the
street In the address on the fatal
package was mis-spelled in a peculiar
way. The police are working on this

Much Less Excitement and Activity
Now Displayed.
New York, May 16.—Much less ex
citement and activity was displayed by
the cotton market this morning anil
the opening was by far the tamest of
the week. First prices were at an
advance of 3 points to a decline of 3
points, the gain being due to covering
while the trade seemed disposed to
sell, the late positions In expectation
of a, further reaction and on the gen
erally favorable tone of the week-end
crop accounts.
Port receipts were estimated to ex
ceed last year, and there were many
reports of curtailed consumption. The
closing of the Liverpool cables, while
perhaps not so low as expected on
futures, reported a subsiding demand
for spots and a decline of 3 points in
spot prices. These factors naturally
encouraged the early selling, but af
ter showing a little further weakness,
values were realized a few points by
New Orleans buying orders.
The rally noted after the opening
was of short duration, and 11 o'clock
found the market 3 to 10 points lower
with August leading tho weakness un
der local bear pressure in the face of
continued support from Now Orleans.

to More Than $50,000.
London, May 16.—The loss of Mrs.
Pierre Lorillard, who Is reported to
have been robbed of $50,000 worth of
jewels, amounts probably to a far
greater sum than at first reported.
Mrs. Lorillard lost all her Jewelry ex
cept what she was wearing and a let
ter of credit and other valuables.
The robbery occurred at the Berk
ley hotel, to which place two men fol
lowed Mr. and Mrs. Lorllland, all the
way from Monte Carlo. Tho thieves
evidently waited for a fovorable op
portunity to commit the robbery and
have gone off with the valuables.
The police have -no clew to their
whereabouts, but Mrs. Lorillard now
■remembers meeting at various points
on the Journey the two suspects and
seeing them again when she arrived in
London.
