Mr. A. B. Girardeau, Savannah, Ga.
Dear Sir:—This is to certify that on Au
gust 1st I went to Verbena, Ala., to hold a
series of meetings. Was at that time, and
had been for six weeks prior, so feeble I was
scarcely able to preach. Mr. F. A. Gulledge,
of Verbena, with whose family I was stop
ping, kindly offered me three bottles of
Johnson’s Chili and Fever Tonic, gratis. 1
accepted, and began the use of the Tonic at
once. Within three weeks I was was much
better. In three weeks I had taken the
three bottles of Tonic and was fully well.
Took no other medicine then nor since, and
am in better health and heavier,' than for
the past fifteen years.

Moro New High Records on New York
Exchange.
New York, Juno 24.—July cotton
opened today at 12:90 and quickly ad
vanced tc 12.97, a new high record ou
the present,advance. After selling
at 12.07, the next quotation was 12.85
for July.
The speculative cxcltebant and ac
tivity of yesterday was carried over
into the market and notwithstanding
disappointing early cables and fairly
satisfactory crop weather the first
prices on the local exchange showed
more new high records and a net ad
vance uf 6 to 12 points on the nearby
months, while the later positions were
I points higher to 6 lower. Senti
ment was fsverleh and unssttled, with
fluctuation* net only broad and vlo-
lent, but extraordinarily Irregular. July
told at 12.97, the first sale after that
being at 12.S5. August sold first at
I. 80, jumped to 12.19 and back to 12.60.
September opened at 1LB0, sold at
II. 56, then declined to 11.46, while Oc
tober and the later month* showed
losses of from I to 7 points from the"
best of th* opening within the first few
minute* under heavy realising.
SERVIAN MINISTRY j TROOPS UNDER ARMS
THROWNjNTO PANIC
King Peter’s Arrival Is Anx
iously Awaited.
MINISTERS ARB IN DILEMMA.
Russian and Austrian Demands For
the Punishment of the Aassassfns
of Alexander and Drags Has Caused
Great Uneasiness.
Belgrade, June 22.—The petition of
the ministry Is becoming daily more
unenviable in consequence of the Rus
sian and Austrian demands for the
punishment of the assassins of King
Alexander and Queen Draga. The
terms of the Russian note also caused
a panic among the ministers, who are
anxiously awaiting the arrival of King
Peter to extricate them from their
dilemma. The war minister is the
paramount power in tho mlnstery, as
he is backed by the entire army and
he threatens severe resentment in the
case of any hint by a member of the
cabinet of the punishment
the case of the conspirators.
The promotions of officers sent from
Geneva are variously explained as eith
er Intended as an open defiance or
*• being the result of alarm caused by
the attitude of the army.
The foreign representatives who have
not been instructed are asking their
respective governments what attitude
they shall assume at the reception of
King Peter. The Russian minister fa
in a quandary. He had resumed re
lations with the provisional govern
ment when the esar telegraphed tats
recognition of King Peter, but the min
ister takes the subsequent publication
of Russia’s demand for punishment as
an indication that Russia will probably
order the suspension of relation* with
the government until the murderers
are punished. Meanwhile the prep
arations for the reception of King
Peter continue. A public holiday has
been proclaimed. ProvMcial deputa
tions are coming to Belgrade; free -wine
and beer Is to be provided by the gov
ernment and the town Is to be given
up to rejoicing.

Alabama Coal Miners and Operators'ln
Conference.
Birmingham, Ala., June 22.—A joint
conference of the Alabama coal minors
and mi-ne operators met today for the
purpose of trying to agree on a wage
scale to take effect July 1. The min
ers presented their scale which calls
for an Increase of 71-2 cents per ton
the maximum wages paid under tho
present sliding sqale, tho maximum oi
which is now 55 coats per ton based
the selling prlco of pig iron, and
71-2 cents per ton in the minimum
Increase the minimum to 421-2 to
62 1-2 cents.
The miners also demand semi-mcnth.
ly pay days and 8-hour days. The
scale of the operators calls for a re
newal of the old contract, except that
the minimum of the sliding scale shall
be 671-2 cents per ton instead of 45
cents. The operators also ask for
the adoption of certain rules regulat
ing the operation of the mines eneb
as are now in force in Illinois. Tbe
two scales were under discussion when
the convention adjourned until this
afternoon. The convention fa being

be for them to make the above unprece

not basing their offer on curative means

medicine than Dr. Pierce’a .Favorite Pre

they know whereof they speak. They have
the most remarkable record of cures made
