turning home from school Margaret
Lear aged 15 years, was attacked In
the public road near be A home, 2 miles
west of this city, Monday afternoon, by

assault her. The young girl struggled
with the man and screamed several
times.
The negro then drew his pistol, ami.
pressing its muzzle against the girl’s
aeck, fired. The girl fell unconscious
to the ground, and her assailant lied
to the woods.
Negroes who witnessed the act Im

waa dying when neighbors reached the
scene, and died within a few minutes
after she was removed to her home.
