says he held one of the assailants for

tity. Nothing further la known as to

action- of the grand jury Is the only In
dication, of their opinion.
While It Is generally felt that the
attack on Milner came as the result
of high feeling and though some sym
pathy has been expressed for -the men
who did the shooting, the conserva
tive citizens of Jonesboro and Clayton
county are Incensed . over the affair,
especially as the trial had been con
ducted In such an orderly manner. It

thought of precipitating a family feud
In this community.
While Milner’s condition Is critical,
his physicians think he may recover.

Warsaw, Sept. 1.—Over 2.000 ar
rests were made during Friday night
when the police were ordered to sweep
the city. Many complaints have been
made by the prisoners of tbe police
men's brutality.

Texaa Trainmen 8trike.
Shreveport, La., Sept, 1.—At Mar
shall, Tex., all trainmen of the Texas
Southern railroad went on strike Fri
day, with.the result that several of
the trains were tied. The men de
mand a reduction In hours from 12 to
10, and an Increase in pay for over
time. The road Is In the hands of a
receiver, who will meet a committee
from the strikers Saturday for the
purpose of arbitrating tbe matter.
Appointed Governor Warsaw.
Warsaw, Sept. 1.—Major General
Von Braar, of St. Petersburg, has
been appointed temporary governor-
general of Warsaw, The Dcrwlg, a
Jewish paper, stated Saturday morn
ing that 20 Polish anarchists hav? es

way to the United States.
