After inspecting the Sieg lands but
Leo street south and also the Speer
lands out Lee, north, the executive
committee which will choose the site
for the Third district agricultural col
lege, adjourned yesterday for the time
without making a decision.
Doth sites, it is said, possess advan
tages, and the committee will meet
here again in about ten days and take
up the subject, which is too important
to be disposed of hastily.
Chairman J. H. Daniel will call the
committee together again shortly after
the Christmas holiday.
Members of the executive committee
present at the meeting yesterday were
Mr. Daniel of Sumter, Mr. Fitzgerald
of Stewart, Mr. Heard of Dooly, and
Mr. Matthews of Houston. .The fifth
member, Mr. Heys of Macon, was not
present, being detained at home.
Citizens of Americns met the visit
ing committeemen and drove with
them to the sites offe'red.
The first of these, the Sieg, lands,
were carefully inspected, after which
the party drove out to the Speer place
in the northern suburbs of the city.
This land, too, was fully inspected
after which the committee discussed
the advantages of each site.
A conclusion could not be arrived at,
and the committee adjourned to meet
here again ten days hence.
