TO REMOVE THIS WEEK TO ATLANTA
Amerlcus Family to Make Home There
in Future.
It Is with feelings of genuine and
sincerest regret that the people o
Amerlcus witness the departure of Mr
and Mrs. Merrel Callaway for Atlanta,
where they go this week to reside per
mnnently. To say that these good
people are beloved by the entire com
munity here would but feebly express
the real affection felt for both, and in
tlielr departure every family circle In
Amerlcus will fee! as though bereft of
one of its own members. They will
carry with them to their new home in
the capital city, where they will be
among friends and kindred equally
dear as those loft behind, the sincerest
good wishes of every citizen of Amerl
eus. of whatever walk iu life.
Who Attempted a Snipe Hunt at
Midnight.
It was a weary party of '*snlpe hun
ters" that came back to the city yester
day morning In the wee sma' hours,
with their victim in tow. The “hunt"
was puUed off all right, an 1 the victim
left in the woods holding the bag for
the expected "snipe” while the crowd
hurried back to the city. As the victim
failed to materialize four hours later
the bunch relented and went to bis
rescue only to find him peacefully
sleeping on the "atand” where they
had placed him and whclly unaware
of the fact that he was the victim of the
Joke. They will brand thq next Joke in
order that he may recognize it.
The election of president and teach-
* for the Third District .Agricultural
College will soon command the atten
tion of the Board of Trustees, This
body will meet In Amerlcus early in
May, probably about the 8th, for this
purpose, end there will doubtless be
an array of names from which a selec
tion will bo made. In the meanwhile
rapid progress upon the college build
ings is being made. The contractors
have the requisite material at hand,
and there is no delay now upon that
score. Tho solid walls, both of the
main academic building and the boys
dormitory, are going up rapidly and
will be completed on contract time.
When the tiusteos meet here iten days
hence definite action relative to the
proposed cornerstone exercises will be
taken and the program announced.
“Last Fall/' writes Mrs. S. G.’ Bailey, of Tun-
nelton 1 , W. Va., “I was going down by inches,
from female disease, with great pain. After tak-fl
ing Cardui, Ohl My I Howl was benefited I I
am not well yet, but am so much better that I will
keep on taking Wine of Cardui till I am perfectly
cured.”
Despite the envious attacks of jealous enemies
and rivals, Cardui still holds supreme position
today [as in the past 70 years] for the relief and
cure of female diseases. It stops pain, tones up
the organs, regulates
the functions, and aids
in the replacement of
a misplaced Organ.

Jim Bell is another of the fleeing
Sumter county zebras to be captured
through a fondness for letter writing.
Bell was among those who Jumped the

months ago. Ho got as far os Knox

letter home. This letter, like others
that have landed the writers back in
the chalngang, fell into the hands of
the ollleers hero and resulted yester
day In Bell's capture. He will go
back to tho gang, and will then have
reaaon to wish he had never seen a pen

A pplication for guardianship
a QsohqU:—scimtB court
Yesterday's worm sunshine, follow
ing a long period of cold and rain
brought Indisputable proof of what has
long been feared regarding the cotton
crop. The "stand” which escaped the
cold and has since been struggling for
existence is deemed worthless to a very
large extent. The little cotton Is of
dead white color, on many plantations,
and where this Is the caso farmers
have concluded to plow up the entire
crop and replant, even at this late
| season. The scarcity of seed and high
price prevailing Is also a problem con
fronting them. Just such unfavorable
condition! were never before known
here and in this section of Georgia, at
least, the next crop will be below the
average, and late besides.

Is there a paint we haven't covered?
