BIDS TEE SYSTEM
'0 'VCZSQ
Mularia is an atmospheric poison which we unconsciously ■ breathe into
our system. Tile blood in its constant passage through the lungs absorbs the
genus, and they destroy the rich, red Corpuscles of this vital fluid t.ud reduce
it to such a weak, watery condition that it is unable to propel iy nourish the
system, and disease gets a foothold, ^hen the symptoms of Malaria, such
-is pale, sa low complexions, weak vitality', poor appetite, deranged digestion,
ami perhaps chills and fever show thatthe trouble is affecting every part of
the body. Malaria also affects the liver, producing a chronic state ox bilious-
ness, and often a long spell of fever follows when the blood becomes fully
contaminated with the poison. Chronic Sores and Ulcetil, boiis, aches and
pains, and skin affections of various kinds often result from this insidious
disease if the poison is allowed to accumulate in the blood in sufficient quan
tities. Malaria must be removed from the system through the circulation
an,! for this purpose nothing equals S. S. S. This great remedy goes down
into the blood and drives out all germs, microbes and poisons, and perma
nently cures Malaria, S. S. S. not only cleanses the blood of the cause, but
furnishes it with the healthful properties ,c needs, so that instead of a weak,
germ-infected stream, spreading disease throughout the system, it becomes
a rich, red fluid, nourishing the body and enabling it to resist disease.

It is nnfortnnate that onr educational system fails in this vital
point. It seems weakest in its developement of character. It fails
to instil into the boys and girls a fixity of ambition that will become
the gniding star of their lives. It is sadly trne thatthe greater
number of those who leave our schools leave them withont' pnrpose,
with no well defined plans for life, and without that stability of
character which, when once plans are laid, enables them to press
forward ^without swerving to their accomplishment. The varied
curriculum, with its il digested information, its smattering of knowl
the intellect and the character of the students. A superficiality is
bred that is carried into the work of life beyond the school room
The indiscriminate readifig, withont pnrpose, induced by the pnblic
libraries and cheap books and magazines of the times, also tends to
this weakness. The quantity read^ not the quality; the amonnt
devoured .and not the good derived therefrom, seems to be the object
of too many who apparently pride themselves on the number of
volumes that have passed through their hands. Amusement and not
improvement appears to be the controlling impulse. Yoracions read
ing of current books—they cannot properly be called literature—
steadily undermines the mind, robs it of pnrpose; deadens worthy
ambitions; accomplishes nothing that is good. It is a woefnl waste of
God-given time.
Get a pnrpose in life, if yon have not already one. .Withont it yon
mnst be a dismal failnre. Make it the beacon of your career. Keep
yonr eyes steadfastly on it. Give the best that is in yon to its
accomplishment. But do not make that purpose an ignoble one;
make it worthy of a trne manhood; one that will develop yonr own
character, stimnlate your.noblest impulses, and help others toward
the goal of a higher life at the same time.
