CASTLETON, VA., August 6.—Five
children were born on the same night
and In the same room of a mountain
cabin on the estate of Judge Henry
C. Stuart, ot Russell county, Va. This
is the record birth event of this part
of the country.
The event took place In the one-

there with his wife, his daughter, and
her husband. The mountaineer’s

when it was being discussed before
the house committee on amendments

Chairman Perry of Hall, just prior
to the taking of the vote. If he wish

laughed derisively and asked:
"What? Ale discuss my bill bA>re

The bill was amended In a minor
particular by Mr. Dunbar of jtlch
mond, the provision that no person
who Is not a qaulifled voter may par
ticipate In a mass' meeting being
stricken. Thus amended, the bill
received a unanimous vote for favor
able recommendation by the commit

Been Read Twice.
Saying this, Mr. Hall turned on
his heels and left the committee room,
followed by Payton of Worth, who
had a dlsfranchlietnent bill of bis
own. which, by the way, la directly In
the teeth of the constitution of the
United States. It disqualifies ns a
voter any person having one-eighth
of negro blood In his veins.
Asked what he meant by his as
sertion Jhat he would take the bill
before the people of Georgia, Mr. Hall
replied:
It has teen read In the house tbe
second time and will probably be
made the special order for Wednes
day, Air. Wiliams of Laurens having
offered a resolution to that effect,
which resolution will be reported on

There Is every Indication that the
’bill will receive many more votes
than the one hundred and twenty-two

and It will then he returned to the
senate for concurrence In the Dunbar
amendment.
Inasmuch as Mr. Hall wUI offer
