NEW HOME FOR LODGE AN IDEAL HOSPITAL Splendid New Building Is Harrold Home Might Be Proposed. Secured. Americus Masons who attended the <3rand Lodge session this week state "that authority to purchase a suitable site for a new Masonic temple In or near Macon was grauted by the grand lodge to the special committee that ■ was named a year ago to look into the advisability of the building of a now temple or the remodeling of the -old one. This means that within a few years "the grand lodge will have new quar- "tcrs in or near Macon. Although the members of the grand lodge will not say where the site Is it is generally understood that a cer tain place near the city has been pick ed out and an offer to buy will be made shortly. The Masons wish their new temple •■constructed along the lines of the most modern architecture and it may Be built along the lines of a church -in some respects. Of course these -Plans are subject to change and mottling moro will he dono during the year than the purchase of a suit- -able site. Mr. P. R. Stanfield, who attended the session with other past masters <of Americus, was the oldest Mason of the 1200 In attendance. He has been a Mason for sixty-six years and 4s still enjoying good health. ATLANTA, GA, Nov. 1.—(Special) —It is given out as a straight tip that the next move of the railroad commission will be to order a flat rato of 2 1-2 cents per mile, with 1,000 mile books to ho sold at the rate of 2 1-4 cents, and 2,000 miles hooks at 2 cents per mile. This city is making a fight for G street car tickets for 25 cents. The order abolishing telegraph and telephone franks, it is stated, will come out In general- order No. 6. soon to ho issued by the Railroad Com mission, and the matter of street car tickets is to follow the hearing on this subject. PENSIONS ARE PAID WEARERS OF BLUE Eight veterans of the Union army In Americus who draw pensions from Uncle Sam received yesterday their regular quarterly stipend, paid through Court Clerk H. E. Irvin Leaves To day for Meeting Synod. Rev. J. L. Irvin, pastor of the Pres byterian church, will leave today for Macon, where he goes to attend the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Synod of Georgia. The Synod will be in session until Friday. Outside of the regular routine, the chief question before tho Synod will be the matter of establishing a Pres byterian Synodical College In Geor gia. The college will be located at the point which offers the most sub stantial Inducements. So far tho bidding has not been satisfactory and It is probable that the final disposl tlon of the proposition will be de ferred. There will be the usual discussion of the missionary work and other ac ttvitles of the church. Captain John A Cobb, for the Light Infantry appeared before the county commls sloners and In a strong address set forth the pressing financial needs of the company and at the same time emphasizing the vital, Imperativi need for maintaining that organize tion. The commissioners took the same view as did Captain Cobb and. despite recent heavy and unusual drafts upon the county treasury, made a conditional donation of $75, at the same time expressing tho hope of doing much more for the Light In fantry in January. This assistance will he appreciated by the military, and citizens and the city council will provide the remaining funds required for paying the indebtedness of the company. Bulloch Co.
