Their coming to Americus has been somewhat delayed, owing to busineBB engagements elsewhere, but now that both are here and ready for business It Is expected that the enterprise will be formally launched and actual work started. Mr. Walker comes here'direct from South Carolina where bis company has similar Interests. Financial arrangements for the es tablishment of the electric plant In Amirlcus have long since been com pleted, it is understood, and there need be no delay upon thls score. The company therefore, will proceed business at once. The Times Recorder hopes to tell the people of Americus an interesting story tomorrow regarding the be ginning of actual work here. Governor Backham has Issued a long and stinging criticism of Henry Watterson, holding him responsible for the Democratic defeat In Ken tucky. It must be gratifying Marse Henry to know that he can influence an election either way.—New York Sun. GUTHRIE, OKLA., Nov. 14.—(Spe cial)—The labor problem and the con flict between employer and employed has been settled for all time, so far as one Oklahoma man Is concerned. This man Is J. N. Hedrick, of Toha- wa, and he Is perhaps the only per son In the country who literally and actually exists aB Christ commanded his immediate followers to live. One of the principal articles of his creed Is to accept no compensation for his labor, and to this idea he has strict ly adhered since 1886. "Everything that takes place Is In accordance with the will of God" declares Hedrick, and with this belief always In bis mind he refuses to take thought for the morrow, where he will live, what he will eat or wherewithal! he shall be clothed. With no home, business or family ties, he lives among bis neigh bors and friends, but does not eat the bread of charity. Wherever there Is work to do he labors with all his might, refusing money compensation, and,.like the birds of the air and the foxes of the forest, trusts in God to take care of him.. Although he is now 57 years old, he has made no provision for age, and believes to do so would be to doubt the care and protection of the Infinite Being he worships. The Times-ReCorder’s suggestion yesterday that a general mass-meet ing of citizens be called for the pur pose of naming an aldermanic ticket to be voted in the forthcoming prim ary meets with greatest favor and has been highly commended. Such a meeting of the business men and tax payers generally would discuss the situation In Americus, and any sug gestion made as to a ticket of three candidates for aldermen would have great weight with voters generally. Three good, safe and conservative men, citizens who would work only for • the advantage and welfare of the city, If elected, would be nam ed! and such ticket would be very strongly supported. Several gentle men have suggested that such meet ing be held at the city hall on Tues day night next, and if this meets with favor in the interim the Tlmes-Recor- der will so announce, on Tuesday morning, next.
