it 1b learned here that a number or
lawyers representing the big brewer
ies of Georgia will go to New Orleans
today for the purpose of appearing
before Judge Pardee and asking for
an Injunction prohibiting the enforce
ment of the State prohibition law as
against their business until the con'
stltutlonallty of the law itself can be
determined by the court.
The brewers decline to discuss the
matter, but the report of their activ
ity comes pretty straight. They hold
that in its application to them the
State prohibition law practically con'
flsicates their property without due
process of law, in violation of the
fourteenth amendment to the const!
tutlon of the United States.
It is a fact, that the Atlanta Brew
ing Compny, at least, instead of pre
paring to abandon its business or to
move, has been materially adding to
its plant That It intends to continue
in business of some sort there can be
no question.
Should the Injunction be granted
the breweries might continue to man
ufacture beer, but the sale and dis
tribution of It within the State would
be another problem.
It is stated the Macon brewery is
not interested in the legal proceed
ings, as it has discovered a process
of making a non-alcoholic beer, which
will be put on the market after Jan.
1. Revenue officers who have looked
Into the matter state that this new
beer contains less than one-tenth of
one i>er cent, of alcohol, and that the
sale of it will be perfectly legal under
the law.

The Benevolent Aid Society has
lost, in the death of Mrs. Susan B.
Moreland, one, who, though prevented
by long years of suffering from ac
tive work, yet by her gentle, quiet
influence, her unselfish living and
giving was a power for good, Inspir
ing others to noble effort.
“The beauty of the Lord, her God
was upon her; and the work of her
bonds was established.” -
THEREFORE, be it resolved by
the members of the Benevolent Aid
Society:
FIRST, that in the .death qf Mrs.
Susan B. Moreland, wg have lost an
earnest, faithful member, a memor
ial of whom finds expression in the
simple words of Christ her Savior:
“She has done what she could.”
SECOND, That a page of our mln-

THIRD, That we extend to the sor
