Where to put the liquids purchased
for "the great dry spell" which set
tles down over Georgia one week
from today Is a problem that con'
fronts several citizens of Americus,
as It does others. Many here have
purchased lots of liquor ranging
quantity from a case to a barrel, but
where to put It until needed is the
question. Under the law they cannot
keep It at their places of business,
for any citizen with as much as
quart hidden In bis store or office Is
a law-breaker and subject to Indict
ment. They dare not carry It home,
where explanations might be In or'
der with the Big Gun who rules the
roost. Several here had planned to
rent a room and store the goods, go
lng there for a drink when desired,
but yesterday they were informed that
such room would constitute a “lock
er” and would be subject to tax. The
stocks, thus bought for the drouth
must be moved from the saloons with'
in a week, but just where to store
them is a perplexing question to the
purchasers.
