According to reports from Ports mouth, Va., the home office of the Seaboard Air bine Railroad company, a reduction of 10 per cent will be made in the salaries of the employes of that road. The cut, so it is said, will affect all employes receiving over $50 a month. , , .. .. The Seaboard will be the sixth rail road to make reduction, as cuts have been made by the Southern Railway, the Western and Atlantic, the Nash ville, Chattanooga and St. Louis, the Georgia Southern and Florida and the Louisville and Nashville. It is understood that the reduction will follow the conference of the heads of departments held in Hamlet, N. C., a few days ago. The officials of the Seaboard at Portsmouth decline to either affirm or deny the ru mors. i A weak Stomach means weak Stom ach nerves, always. And this is also true of the heart and kidneys. This explains why Dr. Shoop’s Re storative has and is promptly helping so many sick ones. It goes direet to the cause of these diseases. Test this vital truth and see. Davenport Drug Co. B. ENGLISH, THE OLD TIME FISH GUANO For twenty-three years the standard of the South. Fish scrap is used in every ton of Farmers* Bone. Properly balanced and carefully mixed, insuring bigger yields with less acreage Americas, Georgia Dear Sir:—Two cans of paint look alike; two paints look alike, when opened; two Jobs look alike, so long as they’re new—unless one is scant. They are far from alike; one Is paint and the other Is trash. The gallon price Is not far from alike. They don’t cost alike. One takes 10 gallons to paint a house; the other takes 20. The cost of one Job is $50; the other $100—it may be $90.—the Job that cost least Is the good one; wears twice as long the other. There are two ways of telling good paint; by the name; by the number of gallons it takes for a Job—least gallons, best paint. By the-name De- voe; by least gallons. Yours truly, 53 F. W. DEVOE & CO. It Is a subject of sincere congratu lation to the candidate who Is now doing the sprint that prevailing pro hibition cuts down the cost. For in stances, a popular runner invited a friend yesterday to take one on him, and the two moved upon McLaughlin’s drug store. En route they encounter ed another able voter and another still, with the result that when the bunch lined up at the soda fount it numbered twenty-four and gave to the drug store the appearance of a vot ing booth. But the candidate gamely did the honors and a dollar offset the bill ot costs, each able voter calling for that thirst alleviator—coca-cola. Other candidates were In the lineup, and upon the call for volunteers three others Invited the entire bunch to meet again today at their expense And to a man the host accepted.
