Fifteen hundred white democratic
voters will be registered for the
county primary, la all probability, and
the interest manifested In the race
for county officers will bring at least
1,200 of these voters to the polls
on Wednesday, April 15th.
Such Is the opinion of those here
who watch the registration.
Fully 850 voters will register In
Amerlcus to vote at the courthouse
precinct,- while In the country dis
tricts probably 650 will register, mak
ing a total of 1,600.
With thirty-three candidates In the
field, already, and each of these urg
ing friends to register, the number
of voters that will be overlooked will
be few indeed. In fact an effort will
be made to bring every available
white voter to the polls on April
loth. i
At the county primary two years
ago only about 900 or 1,000 votes were
polled, but interest in this election
is greater than In many years and a
full vote Is assured. The county com
missioners race in Itself will bring
out a large vote.
There Is but little more than two
weeks for campaigning, and the can
didates will remain a very busy set
of men until sunset. April 15.
Many citizens called at Collector
Small’s office yesterday and register
ed for the primary.
It costs nothing to do this, and
all should register. (
If you have resided In the state
one year prior to October next, and
In Sumter county six months prior
to October next, and are due the coun
ty no tax for last year, you are en
titled to register and vote In the
election on April 15th.
Citizens who have come to Sumter
since March loth, 1907, owe no poll
tax for last year, and can register
without cost.

■What Do They Cure?
The above question Is often asked con

The answer Is that "Golden Medical
Discovery” la a most potent a teratlve or
blood-purifier, and tonic or Invlgorator
and acts especially favorably bra cura

The Central Railway Is anxious to
make important changes In the opera
tion of all of Its trains on the Amerl-
cus-Columbus line, and has thus ask
ed permission of the Railroad Com
mission, where the matter now awaits
a final decision.
The proposed change discontinues
two trains and makes a mixed passen
ger and freight of the passehg'er train
now arriving In Amerlcus-at 11:3<J* a.
., returning at 3:30 p. m.
The proposition has been referred
by the Railway Commission to the
Mayer and Columbus board of trade.
It is not known whether Information
to this effect was given the Amerlcus
authorities. If so, nothing was heard
of It.
The Central Railway desires to
discontinue the two mixed passenger
and freight trains, one leaving Amerl
cus In the early morning and re
turning here at 7 p. m. In place of
these trains It Is proposed to put on
a freight train, which will run trl-
Thfs freight train would probably
leave Amerlcus on Mondays, Wednes
days and Friday, returning Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturday.
It Is contended by the railway com
pany that traffic on that line has
fallen off to 'such an extent that
the company does not feel Justified In
running double dally trains.
In consequence of handling loaded
freight cars on passenger trains the
schedule will have to be lengthened
one-half hour In each direction.
The February earnings for the
trains on this route were as follows:
No. 5, 37.10 cents per mile; No. 6.
41.9 cents per mile; No. 19, 18.2 cents
per mile: No. 20,14.5 cents per mile.
The Amerlcus Board of Trade will
probably take cognizance of the mat
ter, whether or not It is brought to
the attention of the Board officially.
The contemplated changes will be
made in due time If no objection
filed with the commission.
Mayor Brown of Columbus, has con
ferred with the Board of Trade of
that City, and also expects to take
up the mater with the local post of
the T. P. A. and get expressions "*
their views on this subject.
