LETTER TO C. 8. 8. HORNE & CO,
Americus, Uu.
Dear Sirs: Experience teaches some
people sometimes; It teaches a few
some things; it’s a mighty slow
school though, that same experience.
Lots of people paint lead-and-oll,
paint once in three years, and think
themselves wise; they are wasting
half their money and fuss. They're so
sure they are wise, they die as they
live, paint-foolish. Experience teach
es them nothing.
There’s another set, who buy paint
by the gallon, and go by the price of a
gallon. They think one price Is
high, and other Is low; and they
pay about middling; why don't they
pay low? They know that milk isn't
dear or c(ieap by the price of a quart;
thnt the milk has something to do
with It. They don’t buy "cheap" milk,
but they buy “cheap" paint and pay
double. Experience teaches them
nothing.
There's another set. They painted
years ago Iead-and-oil; exhausted that.
Then tried something else; it was
better or worse. Then Devoe; it cost
about- half and wore twice ns long.
Thai's how experience teaches some
of us. Yours truly.

SHIPMENT OF FRUIT IS
MADE TO THE EAST
Several Crates of Peaches
Forwarded.
While Americus orchards have pro
duced many.ripe peaches of the ear
lier varieties already, these were for
local consumption and none have yet
been shipped. The first shipment
the season was made yesterday from
Marshaliville, consisting of probably
a half dozen crates of the Sneed
variety. Sneed peaches ripened fully
in Americus one week ago, a proof
of the fact that fruit ripens earlier
here than .in Fort Valley district, giv
ing Americus growers a full week's
advantage In reaching the market with
the first peaches of the season. The
present prospect for finest quality
of peaches has never been better.
Peaches are well grown and will ma
ture earlier thau usual and it Is
hoped that South Georgia will be
through shipping before Central and
North Georgia commence and avoid
a glut in markets as was the case
two years ago.
