Americus Man Thus Solves
Problem.
With a modern and «p-to-date can
nery located in the midBt of his splen
did orchard of 25,000 peach trees, Mr.
R. S. Broadhurst will be altogether
Independent next year of the commis
sion man, and the New York peach
market alike.
This he has fully decided to do,
and the modern plant will he ready
for operating by the time the first
peaches of the crop of 1909 blush a
rosy red.
Mr. Broadhurst shipped some fifteen
carloads of pfaches this season, and
while results were satisfactory from
the viewpoint of prices and returns,
he regards the home cannery as the
solution.
And In his own case he will act
upon It next season.
An orchard of 25,000 trees yields a
lot of peaches, but they can be hand
led 'expeditiously and without loss.
Mr. Broadhurst will not only can
the yield of his own orchard but that
of others here who may prefer the
cannery to the commission man.
The success attending the .opera
tion of the cannery at the Ware or
chard this season demonstrates the
possibilities In that line for the fruit
growers.
