EXTENSION OF FORSYTH
STREET IS ACCEPTED
The extension of Forsyth street to
Mayo was accepted by the City Coun
cil last night from Mr. Crawford
Wheatley, who also tendered the
deeds to the right of way. It
nosed to name the extension Wheat-
ley avenue, but as there Is a Wheat-
ley street already, this could not be
done. A name will be chosen later.
Chairman Rodgers stated that . the
street came up to the promise of Mr.

SPEEDIEST RURAL CARRIER
DOES NOT USE AUTOMOBILE
Washington, D. C.\ Dec. 22.—The re
cord speed for the country In cover
ing a rural mall route was announced
by the Postofflcc Department yes
terday. Carrier Frank E. Howell, of
Villets, Kans., has been serving his
route 24 miles long In 3 1-2 hours
against nn average of C 1-2 and 7
hours for the same distance in other
sections of the State.
The department first assumed the
carrier was using an automobile
motorcycle, hut Investigation showed
he has been driving a light buggy,
drawn by a team of small horses,
changing them every day.
