Mr. H. T. Bradley came last week
and parties and dinners have follow
ed In close succession.
A pretty home wedding of Christ
mas week was that of Miss Eula
Hiller to Mr. L. E. Jennings Sunday
afternoon at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Hiller.
The ceremony was impressively per
formed by Rev. W. H. Hiller, of Col
umbia, S. C. The wedding was a
very quiet affair, and was witnessed
only by Immediate relatives and a
few friends.
One of the most pleasant social
affairs of the past week was the par
ty given by Miss Ethel Carter Fri
day evening. The house was pretty
with Christmas greens of every kind.
Growing plants and flowers added
their beauty to Oe holly and mistle
toe effectively arranged. Progres
slve games were enjoyed. Mr. Den
nis Moore made the highest score
and received the prize, a box
stationary. A delicious fruit .salad
was served during the evening.
An enjoyable affair which added to
the pleasure of the week, was the par
ty at which Miss .Winona Evans enter
tained In honor of her guests, Miss
I.uclle Cochran of Barnesvllle, and
Miss Ellen Hargrove, of Bronwood.
The home, decorated for the occasion
with holly and bamboo, presented an
Inviting appearance to the gay party
of young people gathered to enjoy
the hospitality of the charming hos
tess. Games of different kinds made
the evening pass all too quickly.
Dainty refreshments were served
the conclusion of the games.
Rev. and Mrs. T. C. Barkley ar
rived Saturday froth Bessemer, Ala.,
and will permanently reside at the
borne of Mr. R. M. Andrews.
Mrs. Phillip Watkins left Sun
day for her home In Doerun, after a
week's visit to her father, Mr. Wil
liam Crawford.
Mr. Thomas Davenport of Amerl-
cus, spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. Thomas.
Mrs. Otis Reese and children, of
Amertcu8, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Timmerman, Sr., Friday.
Miss Mattie Stanfield, of Amerlcus,
was a visitor in Plains Friday.

son Monday to spend a few days with

Cobb, Ga., Dec. 30.—Christmas has
gone, and It was by far the quietest
ever known. We are now more
than ever in favor of prohibition.
Quite a crowd of people, both
young and old, attended the Christ
mas tree here on last Wednesday
evening. All were pleased and In
the evening the crowd was enter
tained by Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hill. The
occasion will be pleasantly remember
ed by all who attended.
Miss Euzera Cocke, who has been
attending college at Rome, is a
home spending the holidays.
Mr. iW. H. Howard attended t<
business in Amerlcus last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Clements left
Saturday for a visit to home folks at
Milan and other towns In Georgia.
Mr. Joe C. Clements returned Sat
urday from a week's visit to home
folks at Towers.
Miss Rossle Williams of Leslie, Is
spending a few days with Misses
Maud and Eula Belle Burke at their

ence Stapleton entertained a few of

profusion, adding charm and frag
rance to the attractive home. Some
appropriate contests were provided
by this clever hostess, which added
greatly to the amusement of the
guests.
Dainty refreshments; consisting ft

Rev. Postelle of Richland, who has
been assigned to Rev. Jones' place at
the Methodist Church here, filled hi*
first appointment Sunday. The ser
vice was a most Interesting one. Rev.
Postelle comes very highly recom
mended, and we trust our association
with him will be both pleasant and
profitable.
Misses Thelma Pilcher and Nettle
Albritton, of Sumter, are the pretty
guests of Miss Mary Bell this week.

within the past week was the ele
gant dinner at which Miss Jewel Kidd
