OLD LIST OF VOTERS / I OLD BOARD HAD FINAL
GOOD FOR 6 MONTHS MEETING ON JAN. 4
Attorney Hart Renders An
Opinion
Attorney-General Hart has Just
given an opinion relative to the
qualification of voters In special elec
tions which may or may not affect
the registration for the bond election
to be held In Sumter on February 11
and for which the voters are now
registering.
The information is contained
the following press dispatch sent out
yseterday from Atlanta;
"Atlanta. Ga., Jan. 13.—Attorney-
General John C. Hart holds that
any special election which may
held In tbe state prior to July
the old registration law and
registration of 1908 should govern.
“This grows out of the fact that
the new registration law requires
that registration books shall close
six months prior to the election for
which tbe registration is used.
‘It will be Impossible to comply
with this feature of the new law un
til after July 1. Therefore, Judge
Hart thinks that no complications
will arise If special elections to „
held between now and July 1 are held
under old regulations, using the 1908
registration lists.”
Whether or not this ruling will af
reet registration for the bond elec
tion hero on Feb. 11 will be deter
mined by County Attorney. Hlxon and
others Interested therein.

Following Shipment of Sep
arator From Plant.
On Saturday the Amerlcus Cream
ery sent a separator to Richland
accoinmodato a large dairy farm
there, and on Tuesday tbe first re
turn of cream was received, amount
lng to about a hundred pounds. Ship-
menu will be made three times
week to Amerlcus. It Is expected
that other farmers in that section
will avail themselves of the free use
of the separator and send in cream.
To ship the milk would have been too
expensive, but the express charges
on the cream will be n small part of
tho valU6 of the butter.
No trouble whatever Is experienced
in securing a market for all of the
butter which can be turned out. The
difficulty is in getting a sufficient
number of cows to supply the cream
ery. Promises have been made by l
number of gentlemen to buy cows
for the creamery In the near future,
and the coming year Is apparently
bright one for tbe owners of tbe
plant The creamery has already
proven a money maker for tbedairy-
men, and the prospect la bright that
the stockholders will soon come in
for a share of tbe proflu.
So far no applications have ' been
received for a separator from other
polnu besides Richland, but In case
they come in the company will doubt
less supply tbe separators free
charge. This would mean a steady
Income each month for the com
munity adopting this plan, and would
also prove proflUble to the cream
