The case of William H. Mitchell, of
Thomasville, who was given 12
months by Judge Roan for assault
and battery on Miss Luclle Linton

Judge Roan In Atlanta January 23.
nben Arnold and Judge Rodden-
berry are counsel for Mitchell, while
Solicitor Thomas and* Congressman
Jloward conducted the prosecution.
The defense claimed insanity, and
that will probably be the main ground

ell guilty, but the court treated the
offense as a misdemeanor.
Many Americua people who know
well both Miss Linton and Mr. Mitch
ell will watch with Interest the ter
mination of tbe case.

[made to the Board of Trade Tuesday
night by President Allen, who was a
member of the committee appointed
to protest to tbe companies against
the raise which had been scheduled
for January 1
When the news of the raise reached
Amerlcus, a meeting of the Board of
Trade was called and vigorous ef
forts were decided on to resist tile
advance In price. A committee was
apiiotnted to look after the trouble.
Mr. Aden stated last night that let
ters had been written to the compan
ies. and that the aid of Hon. T. G.
Hudson, Commissioner of Agriculture
had been Invoked. The result was
that the companies had receded from
their position, and restored the old
rate, taking effect from Jan. 1.
Pres. Allen declared this was
great victory for the Board of Trade,
and that the farmers had greatly'
bencfltted by this action. He 'said
that the raise was 90 cents a ton, and
that there was distributed from Am
Ferlcus about 20,000 tons annually. The

The Board of Trade put Itself
record Tuesday night as heartily en
dorsing the proposed Issue of 360,000
worth of bonds which will be decided
at an election to be held in Sumter
county on February 11. Though the
residents of the city will not get
much benefit as those outside, the
Board went on record as being more
than willing to be taxed for the pur
pose named.
The resolution on thc subject was
introduced by Prof. J. E. Mathis, and
Its reading was received with ap
plause. The resolution read as fol
lows:
"That Sumter county may maintain
Its place in the front rank of the best
counties of the state, it is the sense
of this Board of Trade that good
roads are indespensible,. to the eud
that they may give quick and easy
access to the markets, and to faclli
tate communication with all parts of
the county, therefore,
"Be It resolved, that this Board
of Trade pledge Its earnest support to
the proposed Issue of bonds for this
purpose, and it asks the co-operatfon
of all citizens of Sumter county.”
Pres. Allen expressed his regret
that the Issue was not to be double
the sum. Without debate the reso
lution was unanimously and enthus
iastlcally adopted.

To get an antiseptic strong enough
to kill catarrh germs and not destroy
the tissues of the membrane at the
same time, has been a problem which
was never solved until the discovery
of Hyomel (pronounced Hlgh-o-me).
Hyomel to prepared from eucalypt
us, thc most powerful yet healing an
tiseptic known. Breathe It through
the inhaler over the Inflamed and
germ-ridden membrane four or five
minutes a day, and In a few days thc
germs will disappear.
The Inflamed condition will go, too,
and the suffering, hawking and offen
sive breath, and the discharge of mu
cous and crusts In the nose will cease.
Then why should any catarrh suf
ferer hesitate, when Dodson’s Phar
macy has such faith in llyomci that
they offer to return your money If af
ter a fair trial Hyomel does not cure
catarrh.
A complete Hyomel outllt, including
the inhaler, costs 31.00, ami extra bot
tles, If afterwards needed, cost but 50
cents. Hyomel also cures asthma,
croup, sore throat, coughs, colds
grip.
