In the way of churches, the First
•Methodist church is said lo be one of
the handsomest churches In Georgia
having been erected at a cost of $59,-
000. This is a building of which the
city may well he proud.
Approaching completion is the Car
negie Library, which has been built
at a cost of $20,000. This has a stone
front and is embellished in a most
artistic manner.
Sometime In the early fall the new
Government building will be complet
ed and will be an attractive struc
ture. This will he built from start
to finish by Uuclo Sam, which In-
f u res no delay and the best of every
thing.
By the action of the City Council
In directing that the bonds for tho
new public school building he litho
graphed and offered for sale, a hand
some new building is assured. It will
be placed in Rees Park In case there
are no legal objections lo this use of
the pro|H>rty by the city.
Only one public building is yet
needed to complete an imposing list.
That Is a new theater. With a mod
ern edifice or this kind Americus
would lie well cqulpiied with all tli
fine public buildings needed for ih
next two decades.
